Jim was born May 28, 1930 in Everglades City, the son of John Wesley and Gladys Hatfield Roan and was raised in Ft. Myers. He attended Emory University for one year. He made the U.S. Army his career during which time he served in the Korean War, Vietnam War and in Germany and Thailand.

He attained the rank of Lieutenant Colonel, attended the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College in Ft. Leavenworth, KS received the Bronze Star and Legion of Merit among many other commendations. He was also of Grace Baptist Tempember Mr. Roan is survived by his wife of 50 years, Ellen Roan; three sons, Thomas Wesley.

Roan (Linda) and Ronald Howard Roan (Debra), both of Colorado Springs, CO and Robert Stacy Roan (Kimberly) of Ft. Myers; five grandchildren, Elisa Roan, John Roan, Roan, Erin Roan and Christopher Roan; a brother, Charles F. Roan (Josephine); two sisters, Beaulah England and Jean Parris (LeRoy) and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by James Michael Roan in 1990 and two brothers William H. (Dub) Roan and John Wesley Roan, Jr.

CARMINE ANGELOTTI JULY 3, 2003 Carmine Angelotti, writer and inventor, beloved son, husband, brother, father, grandfather, uncle and friend to many, passed away in Cape Coral Hospital on 3, 2003 of cancer. Son of Donato and Filomena, born (DeCandia) in Montclair, AngelotNew Jersey Sept. 16, 1934.

While a young man, Carmine traveled throughout North America working a variety of jobs, including lumberjack, circus roustabout farmhand, to name a few. Each of these experiences enriched his philosophical beliefs and creative mind. He was grateful for every day. Carmine attended Cornell and Columbia Universities, earning a B.S. in psychology.

He did graduate work at the University, of Scranton before becoming a newspaper reporter, editor, and publisher in New York and New Jersey. a He worked in public relations for New York Telephone for over 20. years, developing many lifelong friendships. During this he also a speech writer, for several Albany area politicians. He was the voice and mind of the robot, ISAC, tines to introduce robotics to general public; he wrote and acted in a commercial to promote the metric system and he was the composer of a song about the dangers of nuclear power, 'We all live in Pennsylvania: The Harrisbuerger (Geh Geh) Blues', after the 3 mile Island incident.

He read widely and wrote prolifically a lover of Ianguage and words. He worked for many years on a book of mnemonics, but his passion was the research and compilation of all things Italian, which hoped to publish in a multivolume reference. Above all, Carmine was a devoted husband and father. He was predeceased by his wife and best friend of 38 years, Judy (Hutchinson) Angelotti, who passed away in September and his sister, Marie who died late last year. He is survived by, his seven children, Nadine of Albany, York, Marietta (Raymond Parsons) of Gainesville, Donato of Cape Coral, Mark of North Tonawanda, New York, Victoria of Cape Coral, Maena Volgt (Michael) of Gainesville, Carmine Luca (Chris) of Davenport, his sister Della Dowd of Feura Bush, New York; and grandsons Joseph Whitney Angelotti and Sean Timothy Angelotti Green, both of Albany, New York; his friends Jack and Anne Gaffney, and many other extended family members and friends.

Our father was born with the temperament of a philosopher, often urging us to emulate the ideals of Marcus Aurelius, who wrote, 'Every moment think steadily as a Roman and as a man to do what you have in hand with perfect and simple dignity, and kindliness, and freedom and justice, and to give yourself relief from all other thoughts. Chapple retired in 1990 after a successful career as a college administrator, largely at Clarkson University in Potsdam, New Joining the staff as Director, of Admissions he rose the positions of Dean and Vice Provost with responsibility for admissions and financial aid, placement and the registrar's office. At retirement, he had admitted over half of the students who attended Clarkson since its 1896 founding. In addition, Mr. Chapple served two terms on the Potsdam Board of Trustees, one as Deputy Major. Since moving to Cape Coral, he has served as a member of the city's Tourism Committee and on the Board of Directors of the Southwest Homeowners' Association.

Mr. Chapple graduated from Ashland High School, earned a B.A. from Northland College in Ashland, Wisconsin, an M.A. from Michigan State University and completed coursework for a Ph.D. at Syracuse and Indiana Univer- Mr.

Chapple is survived by his wife, the former Helen Schroeder and their five children; John H. Chapple, CEO of Nextel Partners, Kirkland, WA; Jeanne Alice Chapple, Registered Nurse, Cayuga Medical Center, Ithaca, NY; Mitchell Chapple, Higher Education, Marketing Longman, Manag- White Plains, NY; Paul C. LINDGREN JULY 8, 2003 Hugo A. Lindgren died July 8, 2003- in Ft. Myers, at the age of 100. was a longtime resident tie Jamestown, but lived full-time in Florida since 1991. Mr.

Lindgren was born in 1902 in the Swedish farming village of Nashult. His father was a blacksmith and Mr. Lindgren was working in his shop by age 9. At 19, he decided to leave Sweden the United States, and made his way to Jamestown, where he had an aunt and uncle. He worked first in a furniture factory, but soon found employment in a metal plant, where felt more comfortable.

Just 6 years after he arrived in the country, founded Exel Metal Company, with a group of partners. It started with 4 employees, but quickly grew to more than 100. In 1943, he started his own company, Jamestown Metal Products, which specialized in making cabinets for hospitals and kitchens. During the post-war rebuilding of many American hospitals, official architectural specifications 'a level of quality at least equal of Jamestown Metal When the White House was refurbished in 1948 under the Truman administration, Jamestown Metal Products won the contract to install cabinets in the kitchen. More than anything, though, Mr.

Lindgren took pride in the number of people he was able to employ, which at its peak was 200. Mr. Lindgren sold his company in 1962, but returned a few years later to help finance the purchase of the company by its employees, one of the first deals of its kind. Meanwhile, he was turning his attention to real estate in Florida. He bought up property on then-obscure island called Sanibel in the Gulf of then paid for the feasibility, and persuaded engineering Lee County studofficials to build a causeway that connected the island to the mainland.

Today, Sanibel is one of Florida's most beautiful and successful resort areas, and the first road off the causeway is called Lindgren Boulevard. For the next 20 years, Mr. Lindgren split his time between Florida and Jamestown. Among other things, he was a major benefactor of Lutheran Social Services, and underwrote the construction of an apartment complex that enables senior citizens to receive care but still live independently. He and his wife of 60 years, Louise, spent their last years in Jamestown in the complex that bears their name.

Mr. Lindgren is survived by his twin sons, Richard and Robert, both of New York City, three grandchildren, and three children. His wife Louise died two years ago.
