Entertainment me sauna uouiuai mursaay, January* i»5i> ragew "French Import, I" collage by Mary F. Palffy. Textile, collage exhibits featured at Art Center Textiles by Carolyn Berry, former Salina Art Center education director, and collages by Kansas State University art instructor Mary F. Palffy will be on display beginning Tuesday and continuing through Jan. 26 at the Salina Art Center on the Kansas Wesleyan campus. Berry's work includes crocheted "fantasy" jackets, tapestries, quilted batiks, stitcheries andweavings. "Color and texture are the two design elements that I emphasize," Berry said. "First I find a material I like. Then I ask myself, 'What would this make that would be interesting?,' rather than having an idea for a design first." Palffy's collages and drawings feature western themes such as cattle, sheep and landscapes. Palffy describes her collages as a combination of monotype prints and drawings. She begins by attaching a monotype print to a larger piece of paper. Then drawings made with cattle marker, colored pencil or graphite pencil are added. She has a bachelor's degree in painting from Montana State University and a master's degree from Northwestern University. Her work is sold in galleries in Kansas City, Chicago, Montana and Kansas. The Art Center is open from 1 to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday. Admission is free and tours are welcome. For information on scheduling a tour, call 827-1431. SHOE FIT COMPANY Filming too much fun, Field feared LOS ANGELES (AP) — Actress Sally Field says she was worried during filming of her new movie, "Murphy's Romance," with James Garner because she had too good a time. "I feel much more comfortable when I'm in a great deal of pain the entire time we shoot. If I can think 'agony,' I feel better," the two-time Academy Award winner said. "Murphy's Romance" is the first movie to emerge from Field's 3-year-old Fogwooid Films. Her director was Martin Ritt, who also coached her in the 1979 "Norma Rae," which garnered her first best actress Oscar. Her second was for 1984's "Places in the Heart."
