Manuel Tuya, was elected president of the secretarial graduating class and named salutatprian at Strayer's Business College, Washington. The graduation exercises were leld March 10 in "the Presidential 3allroom of the Hotel Statler. After he a dance was held in the same room. and'Mrs. Tuya attended the graduation.

Mies Tuya is a graduate of Bruce High School, Westernport. Mrs. Francis Cunningham. 9 Centennial Street, was admitted to Allegany Ho; pital, Cumberland, Thursday and underwent an operation Friday. Her condition is reported good.

and Mrs. Harold George Caffett, all Auxiliary Has Supper Event FROSTBURG, March 18 American Legion Auxiliary met recently in the Legion Home. A covered dish supper was served to members and their friends. The proceeds of which has been given to the rehabilitation committee, in charge of Miss Frances Winter. A program featured a talk on Americanism by W.

Earle Cobey, Cumberland attorney. Music by the Men's Chorus of the Methodist Church was presented. The program was conducted by Miss Alberta Mayer and her committee. A business meeting after the program was conducted by Mrs. Martha McNeil, president.

Mrs. Leah Yates, Mountain District vice president, gave a talk on child welfare. Mrs. Annie Laber told of work done for the teenagers. Members of the Girl's State committee were appointed.

They are Mrs. J. C. Cobey, Mrs. Elizabeth Miller, Mrs.

Bertha Gels, Mrs. Ruth Snyder and Mrs. Daisy Thomas. Mrs. Margaret Mullen was appointed to the program committee The group donted $10 to the Red Jross.

Study Course Being Held By Area Firemen PBOSTBUEG, March 18 Tile Prostburg Fire Department Is studying Section foiree of the Fireman's Training Course, as prescribed by the College of Engineering Fire Extension Service of the University of Maryland.

The course is being taught by William Wilson, Midland, who is a state officer and who has been conducting training courses in this area for several years. The men meet one night a week for 13 weeks. Thirteen local men. and one member from the LaVale Fire Department are" registered. The course includes combustion and heat transmission, common fire hazards, gases, chemicals, flammable explosives and ammunition, dust explosions, oil burners and hazards, air conditioning and hazards, weights and measures, water in motion, elementary science in the fire service matter and properties of matter, aircraft crash and fire, fighting rescue, building construction, disaster rescue operations, levers, jacks, block and tackle derricks, shear legs and gins, rescue techniques, tunnelling, rescue from basements, shoring, demolition and damage to public services.

Biggs announced at a recent meeting of the Trl-T6wns District Scouters at the Odd Pellow's Hall. A meeting of those who "will attend will be held proceeding the trip. They will leave for Valley Forge three days before the opening time for a three-day training period. Plans for the Bethesda trip for Senior Boy and Girl Scouts and leaders have been completed, according to Alton R. Fortney who is in charge- of arrangements.

They will leave Friday, March 24, and return Sunday, March 26. Miss Margaret Neuman, county health nurse, will accompany the group. Plans for the Boy and Girl Scout trip to Washington, to be held May 6-7, were outlined by Fortney, who also is in charge of arrangements for that trip. Five buses and two automobiles will be used to transport the 13 troops who will attend. Five nurses will accompany them, one on each bus.

About 240 scouts will make the trip. Thomas Campbell was appointed to make arrangements for the annual Easter Sunrise service for scouts, to be held April at Dan's Rock. The steering committee, in charge of the annual encampment of the Boy Scouts of the Tri-Towns District, to be held July 8 to 15 at the Potomac Council camp, were appointed by Rev. Schwlnd. Church Film To Be Shown This Evening FROSTBURG, March 18 The fourth in a series of sound motion pictures will be shown Sunday evening at 7:30 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, West Main and Water streets. It is entitled, "And Now I See." The film was produced by the United Lutheran Church in America to promote Christian stewardship.

Fire School Set FROSTBURG, March 18 The Frostburg Fire Department will be host to representatives of most of the fire companies in Western Maryland at a forest fire' school to be held here Sunday, March 26. A special meeting of club mem bers will be held Wednesday eve ning in Red Men's Hall to plan fo the club's part in the centennia celebration of the town to be held during the first week of July. Mrs. Henry Anderson' returned to Washington accompanied by her niece, Donna Kay Thomas. Mrs. Salem Loar, of Miller Mines has returned from New York City Miss Bee Reilly visited relatives in Baltimore. Miss Margaret Kenny, anestheaist of St.

Agnes Hospital, Baltimore, visited relatives here. She was accompanied to Baltimore by her aunts, Misses Julia and Mary Qulnn. James Farrell returned to Deoit after spending several days with his family here. Mrs. Catherine Alfred Davis, David Shearer and John Murphy, all patients in Miners Hospital, Frostburg, are reported mproving.

The play is being directed by Franklin Chermock and Quayle Andrews of the music department. Leading roles will be taken by Sheila Clise, Edwin Warehime, Melvin Eichorn, Stuart Blair and Betty Ann Hanna.

Ministerial Group Protests Appointment FROSTBURG, March the recent meeting of the Frostburjr Ministerial Association, the mem- oers unanimously voted to request the local Protestant congregations as such, and members individually, to protest to their congressmen, senators and the secretary of state tha pending presidential appointment of a United States ambassador to the Vatican. Heretofore, Myron C. Taylor was the personal representative of President Truman to the Vatican.
