Murder suspect charged with making obscene remarks Hermina Schoenberg BERNARDS Hermina Schoenberg, 62, of Basking Ridge, died Thursday (Oct.

14, 1982) at Morris town Memorial Hospital. She had lived in Basking Ridge since 1946. She was a school nurse in the Bernards school district She was a graduate of Passaic General Hospital School of Nursing. Surviving are her husband, Kurt Schoenberg; four sons, Kenneth of Shippenburg, and Kurt, John and James, all of Basking Ridge; six brothers. Nicholas and Edward Cooper, both of Clifton, Jesse Cooper of Hawthorne, John and Sidney Cooper, both of Ontario, Canada, and Samuel Cooper of Greeley, two sisters, Emily Cooper of Clifton and Ruth Drost of Copperville, and five grandchildren.

John MenzakSr. SOUTH BOUND BROOK John "China" Menzak 75, of this community, died Thursday (Oct. 14, 1982) at Somerset Medical Center in Somerville. Born in Ernest, and formerly of Manville, he had been a resident of South Bound Brook for 30 years.

He retired in 1969 as a millwright with Johns-Manville where he was a member of the Johns-Manville Quarter Century Club. He was a communicant of St. Mary's Byzantine Catholic Church in Manville. He was an organizer and charter member of VFW Post 2290 of Manville and also a past commander and life member of the VFW. He served on the Manville Board of Education in the 1930s and '40s and was a member of the South Bound Brook Senior Citizens Club.

He served in the Navy as a coppersmith, second class, from 1924-28. He was a member of the Manville Rod and Gun Club and the Hunterdon County Rifle and Pistol Association. He is survived by his wife, Anna Siplik Menzak; two sons, John Jr. of Whitehouse and Joseph of Lawton, three daughters, Mary Ann Oselus of Whitehouse, Marjorie Stanley of Orlando, and Joan Dobrosky of Raritan Borough; a brother, Andrew of Ernest; a sister, Anna of Ernest; and nine grandchildren. Alice A. Golden MANVILLE Alice A. Golden, 56, of 728 Boesel died yesterday (Oct. 15, 1982) at Somerset Medical Center in Somerville. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., she had lived in Manville for 32 years.

She was employed as a nurse's aide at the Jewish Home for the Aged in Franklin (Somerset). She has been a nurse's aide for 10 years. She was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church in Manville. She is survived by her husband, Louis A. Golden; two sons, Louis L.

PERONE Courier-News Staff Writer SOMERVILLE A borough man charged with murdering a female neighbor last year was charged with making obscene remarks to a pair of state employees yesterday, according to police. Two employees of the state Unemployment Insurance Claims Office at 352 E.

Main St. signed a complaint yesterday against Tibor Louis DeDobeau of 150 S. Bridge St. The two employees, Nancy Rand and Paul Eypper, signed a complaint charging DeDobeau with using "loud and offensive language in a public place," according to borough police Sgt. Vincent Metzler, the investigating officer.

De Dobeau has been charged with murder, kidnapping and sexual assault in connection with the August 1981 beating death of Jean Tozzi, who In brief Negotiations fail FLEMINGTON Hunterdon Gbunty and Union negotiators failed to come to terms on wages yesterday for three part-time bus drivers for BRIDGEWATER William H. Cunningham a charter member of the Somerset County Park Commission who served as its first engineer, died yesterday (Oct. 15, 1982) at home. He was 82. He was a licensed engineer-surveyor and was involved in municipal engineering and surveying for 49 years, including 25 years as an engineer for Raritan Borough, Bridgewa-ter and Hillsborough in Somerset County and Passaic Township in Morris County.

He was appointed as the first Somerset County Park Commission engineer in 1961, and served in that capacity until his retirement in 1971. In the 1960s, he served as acting director of the park commission. Mr. Cunningham was a past exalted ruler at the Somerville BPO Elks Lodge No. 1068.

He was also a member of the Society of American Military Engineers and the National Society of Professional Engineers. Born in New York, he had lived in the Somerville area for the past 60 years. He was a communicant of Immaculate Conception Church in Somerville. Surviving are a son, William H. Gary DiFrancesco, killed SCOTCH PLAINS Gary P.

Among other appearances, the band played at the Floyd Paterson Benefit Dinner at the Hotel Rossevelt in New York City and at a benefit held when Minnesota Fats was inducted into the Pool Players Hall of Fame.

Theresa F. Merzena BRIDGEWATER Theresa Feucht Merzena, 91, of Old York Road in the Bradley Gardens section, died yesterday (Oct. 15, 1982) at Somerset Medical Center in Somerville. Born in Weitra, Austria, she came to the United States 72 years ago. A former resident of Jersey City, she had lived in Bridgewater for the past 36 years.

She was a member of Holy Trinity Church in Bradley Gardens and a member of its Altar and Rosary Society. She was the wife of Karl Merzena, who died in 1960. Surviving are two daughters, Gertrude Zipfel of Flemington and Mary Phibbs, with whom she resided; two sons, the Rev. Carl J. of St.

Venantius Parish in Orange and Joseph of Hillsborough; a sister, An-tonia Obnitsky of North Bergen; two brothers, Robert and Louis Feucht, both of Pennsylvania; and 14 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Her body was found on Aug. 15, 1981, on the banks of the Raritan River, a short distance from their respective apartment buildings.

Somerset County Assistant Prosecutor Edward Coleman said De-Dobeau's murder trial is still scheduled to begin Monday. However, he declined to comment on whether the disorderly persons charge would affect DeDobeau's bail status. The suspect was freed shrotly after his arrest after he posted 10 percent of the $250,000 sum in cash. The trial has long been delayed because of various pre-trial motions filed by the defendant and his attorneys. Kates 85, of this community, died Thursday (Oct. 14, 1982) at St. Mary's Hospital in Orange. Bom in Hopewell, he had lived in Scotch Plains for 55 years. He had been employed by Magnus Dif in Garwood for many years.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War and after serving in France was honorably discharged on July 9, 1919, with the rank of corporal. In 1923 he became a charter member of Centennial Lodge No. 400 IB-POE of the World in Westfield and served as financial secretary for almost 40 years until his retirement. He was also a member of Elks groups including PERC No.

121, Third District, IBPOE of the World, PGER Council Club of New Jersey and the Grand Lodge IBPOE of the World in New Jersey. He was also a member of Stone Square Lodge No. 38, Lodge in Plainfield. He Is survived by three sons, Henry E. of East Orange, John A.

Catherine P. Hovan, 53, formerly of Plainfield, N.J., died Wednesday (Oct. 13, 1982) in Petersburg, Va. She was formerly a concert violinist with the Plainfield Symphony Orchestra. Mrs.

Hovan was born in Plainfield and lived in the Plainfield area before moving here seven years ago. She was employed by SAFT America in Valdosta, having worked for the company for 25 years. She was a communicant of St. John's Church here and a former communicant of St. Mary's Church in Plainfield.
