TYLER Edward E. "Eddie" Scott 51, of Tyler, previously of Longview, died Friday at a Tyler nursing facility. Arrangements are by Advantage Mortuary Services. He was born Dec. 10, 1951, in Shreveport.

Mr. Scott was a member of the Church of Christ, a construction laborer and an air conditioning repairman. Survivors include his wife, Veronica. Neal Joseph Savant Neal Joseph Savant, 46, of Longview passed away at his home on Sunday, May 11, 2003. He was born Jan.

3, 1957, in Lake Charles, to Nelson and Nancy Savant. He attended schools in Lake Charles and Hallsville. Mr. Savant served tours of duty in Korea and Germany while in the U.S. Army.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Nancy Ann Savant. Survivors include his father, Nelson J. Savant; three brothers, Walter M. Savant, Daryl T. Savant and Robert A.

Savant; two sisters, Patricia Cole and Paula Reneau; his nephews, Jason Cole, Elliott Cole and NelReneau; his nieces, Madison Cole, Katrina Reneau and Scarlett Savant; and numerous lifelong friends. A private memorial service will be held by the family. Honorary pallbearers are Jason Cole, Elliott Cole, Nelson Reneau, Chad Walker, Russell Ward and D.M. Thursday, May 15, 2003, in Neeley Cemetery near Laneville with the Rev. Jonathan Jehorek officiating. Services are under the direction of Rader Funeral Home of Longview. Mrs. Hudson passed away Tuesday morning, May 13, 2003, at a local nursing home.

She was born Nov. 25, 1904, in Rusk County to J.W. and Fannie Cochran. She had spent most of her life in Henderson and was a homemaker and a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Longview. Mrs.

Hudson was preceded i in death by her husband, Gip Hudson. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Frances and Clark Sample of Longview; her grandchildren, Carol Sample of Longview, Don and Donna Sample of Houston, Susie Graham of Longview and Robert and Molly Sample of Houston. She is also survived by nine great-grandchildren; a sister, Annette Crawford of Nacogdoches; her sisters in-law, Mildred Cochran of Henderson and Sybil Cochran of Austin; and special niece Lorraine Hudson of San Antonio. The family will receive friends 5-7 p.m. today, May 14, at the funeral home.

She was a lifetime resident of Longview and a homemaker. She is survived by her husband, Don Rager Jr. of Longview; one daughter, Kaitlyn Rager of Longview; her mother, Dorothy Reppond of Longview; three sisters, Carolyn Duren of Linden, Johnnie Kay Johnson of Longview and Joann Joy of Kilgore; and a number of nieces and nephews. Arrangements are by Croley Funeral Home of Gilmer. Mrs. Efurd passed away Sunday, May 11, 2003, in Tyler. The family received friends 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, May 13, at the funeral home.

Mrs. Efurd was born in Cookville to John Camden and Minnie Catherine Gunn Rey. nolds. Mrs. Efurd served more than 50 years in the Pittsburg Chapter 381 of Eastern Star, Past Worthy Matron 54-55, and was a member of the Business Professional Women's Club, the Upshur County Historical Committee, the Upshur County Library and the Captain Thomas Black National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

She was active in genealogy for more than 50 years, and she was a member of the First Baptist Church in Gilmer. Mrs. Efurd started her career with her husband at Efurd Grocery Store in Pine, then went to work at Brittian's Dry Goods in Pittsburg. She then worked at Pittsburg National Bank, First National Bank in Winnsboro and First National Bank in Gilmer, for a total of 30 years. Mrs.

Efurd is survived by three sons, Paul C. Efurd of Flint, Joe M. Efurd of Tyler and Johnny L. Efurd of Garland. She was preceded in death by her husband, Morris Efurd, who died in 1974; four brothers, Guy Reynolds, Ralph Reynolds, Carl Reynolds and Louie Reynolds; and two sisters, Faye Reynolds Williams and Mary Reynolds Green.

Pallbearers will be Charles Craze, Jimmy Craze, Joseph Efurd, Robert Efurd, Steven Efurd and Jimmy Reynolds. She grew up in Westlake, La. She passed away Friday, May 9, 2003, in Clinton, as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Mary Edna graduated from Westlake High School in 1956 and was a 1960 graduate of Louisiana Tech. She later received a master's degree, plus 30 hours, from LSU in Baton Rouge. She was a member of Sigma Sigma Sigma sorority at Northwestern State University at Natchitoches, the Co-wed Sunday School Class at First United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women and Circle No.

8. Mary Edna was also a Sunday school teacher, a youth counselor, a member of the administrative board and a member of numerous committees at the church. Mary Edna was a delegate to the Louisiana Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church, and she was on the development committee and the board of directors of the Louisiana Methodist Foundation. She was a member of the Delta Kappa Gamma educational sorority, the Captain Shreve Booster Club and the PTA. Mary Edna was an adjunct professor at LSU-Shreveport and a supervisor of student teachers.

She had taught for 33 years. Foro the last 20 years, she had taught kindergarten at R.V. Kerr elementary in Bossier City, retiring in 1993. She was preceded in death by her father, Edward D. Adams.

Survivors are her husband of 45 years, Marvin E. Brossette of Shreveport; her mother, Alice Pope Pickett Adams of Westlake; her mother-in-law, Sara Dell Brossette of Shreveport; a daughter, Amy Hitchcock and her husband, Tom, of Longview; a son, Edward M. Brossette of Shreveport; her grandchildren, Mary Christine "Christi" Hitchcock of Baton Rouge, Danielle Elise Hitchcock and Nathan Thomas Hitchcock of Longview; two sisters, Alice Fanta and her husband, Fred, of Westlake and Bertha Giffin Westlake; four nieces; eight nephews; and many, many wonderful friends. Garrett Dr. Robert H. Garrett, 75, of Lake Cherokee passed away Tuesday, May 13, 2003. On July 14, 1953, Robert married Eloise Sharp in Bernalillo, N.M. Dr.

Garrett served as a medical missionary in Rhodesia and Zimbabwe for 17 years. When he returned home, he practiced for 10 years at two separate walk-in clinics in Longview. Survivors include his wife, Eloise Garrett; two daughters, Alita Goins and her husband, the Rev. John Goins, of Arlington, and Cayla Quenichet and her husband, Eric, of Tyler; two sons, Bryce Garrett and his wife, Rita, of Dalhart and Dustin Garrett and his wife, Melanie, of Arlington; eight grandchildren; three brothers, Bill Garrett of Hartselle, Jim Garrett of Robert Lee and Phil Garrett of Muleshoe; and numerous nieces and nephews. Services will be held at 11 a.m.
