AP) Mrs, Edgar Parker, mother of decorated Army Maj. Russell Parker, said today the family felt his death after a Kansas City robbery "was a terrible mistake and we feel that God will someday reveal the true facts." Parker, 40-year-old native of Laurel, was shot down Monday night after robbing a downtown Kansas City theater of J568.

The Army, seeking a motive for the robbery, said his parents had incurred large medical bills and "he may have wanted to help them." Mrs. Parker "all this about us owing bills is an error." She said neither she nor her husband had 'incurred large medical bills and "Russell had no worries whatsoever from home." She said her son, whose 17-year military career included service in both World War II and the Korean War, was home last August and "was as happy as a person could be." "We are strong in the opinion that his death was a terrible mistake and feel that God will some day reveal the trus facts," she said. The body of Maj. Parker did not arrive in Laurel today and 'uneral arrangements remain incomplete. Parker won the Silver Star, Jronze Star and Purple Heart with two clusters during his mili- ary career.
