at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, Mansfield. Mr. Melton died Tuesday. April 30, 2002 at Desoto Regional Hospital. He was born in Belmont, LA and was a resident of Mansfield.

Mr. Melton was a retired owneroperator of a service station. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister. Survivors are his wife of 59 years, Maxine G. Visitation will be held at Rockett Funeral Home in Ringgold, LA, Tuesday, April 30, 2002 from 6 to 8 p.m. Frankie L. Woodard was bom May 16, 1905 at McAlester, Indian Territory Oklahoma. Mrs. Woodard went home to be with the Lord on April 29, 2002, at Minden Medical Center, Mind-en, LA.

She is survived by two daughters, Mary Jean Gregory of Pleasant Hill, LA; Margie E. Kunce and husband, Roy J. Kunce, Shreveport, LA; and one son, Zack L. Woodard and wife, Mary Nell Woodard, Minden, LA; 12 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; 9 step-grandchildren: 8 great-great grandchildren; a special nephew, Donald R. Woodard and wife, Rosemary of Ringgold, LA; special niece, Laura Butler, Arcadia, LA; and special friends, LeRoy and Emma Lou Moore of Ringgold, LA.

She was involved for 64 years in the Home Demonstration Club (FCE), holding several offices such as president, secretary, and treasurer of the Ringgold Club. She was active with the Bienville Parish Fair Association and was a Fair Board member for many years. For several years, she ran the ceramic shop for the Senior Citizens Center in Ringgold, taught classes, fired the kilns, and helped those at the Ringgold Nurse Care Center paint and fire their pieces. Mrs. Woodard was a very faithful member of the Social Springs Baptist Church, and participated in many, many parish and community activities.

Pallbearers will be James M. Downs, Karl S. Kunce, Donald R. Woodard, Chip Woodard, Robert C. Woodard, and Ronald D.

He grew up in Dallas, Texas, and later moved to Shreve-port.

Richard was employed as a Customer Sales Representative for Nabisco, where he received the honor of Top Customer Sales Representative for 2001. Richard was a member of Summer Grove Baptist Church, and actively involved in the Koenoia Sunday School Class. Richard went to be with the Lord after a courageous battle with lung cancer. He inspired and touched the lives of many people with his strength and determination. Richard was a kind, gentle man who enjoyed his faith, his family, his career, and his Dallas Cowboys.

Richard is survived by his wife Patti Fair Reynolds, daughters Abbie Reynolds of Shreveport, Laura Reynolds, Angela Ballard and husband Paul all of Mesquite, Texas, Holli Meshell and Casey Meshell of Shreveport, brother Robert Reynolds and wife Robin of Allen, Texas, grandson Grant Ballard, Jolee Marion and Carrie Reynolds. The family wishes to express appreciation to Doctor Robert Massingil and staff for the excellent care and compassion that was given to Richard throughout his illness, and to Oddesy HMC Hospice for their help and tender loving care. Stanley (Stan) departed this life April 27, 2002 at the Doctors Hospital after a lengthy illness. Born in Shreveport, LA on February 8, 1952, he attended Oak Park Elementary and Bethune High Schools. His father, Deacon Willie James, preceded him in death. Stan leaves to cherish his memory a loving and devoted mother, Mrs. Lucille James; a daughter, Shavonda Lucille James; three sisters, Dorothy Winbush (Amos), Lillie J.

Bradford (Hugh Bernard), Dora Ann Bedford (Wilbert); one granddaughter, Jakazia James; two aunts, Ernestine Cosby, Bessie L. Lawrence; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Shirley H. Survivors are one son, Joe Houston Smith and wife, Mary Ann of Coushatta; daughter, Peggy Carol Ray and husband, Bruce of Coushatta; sisters, Lois Kitchings and Marie Sidewand both of Coushatta; five grandchildren and six greatgrandchildren. Mr. McCoy passed away Tuesday, April 30, 2002 at his residence of cancer. He was bom in Gilbert, LA on August 17, 1934. He has resided in the Shreveport area for the past 46 years. He Is a retired switchmanbrakeman for Union Pacific Railroad with 37 years of service.

He was a member of U.T.U. and Summer Grove Baptist Church. Mr. McCoy was preceded in death by his son, Damon McCoy and two brothers, Doc Jr. and Huey P.

McCoy. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Mary McCoy of Stonewall; two daughters, Kim Evans and husband, Dave of Shreveport and Gale Tlppett and husband, Andy of Keithville; a son, Bruce McCoy of Stonewall; three grandchildren, Ashley Evans, Tiffany and Jared Tippett; five sisters, Opal Kelsey, Pearl Langston, Ruby Browning, Jewel Templeton and Katherine Barber; a brother, John McCoy; two sisters-in-law, Iris and Grace McCoy and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. Visitation will be 5 p.m. until midnight on Wednesday in the church and from 9 a.m. Thursday until services. Mr. Brewton, a loving father, husband and a good friend, died Monday, April 29, 2002 In the Winn Parish Medical Center in Winnfield, LA.

He was a native of Winnfield, LA and resident of Goldonna, LA. Mr. Brewton was a graduate of Northwestern State University. He served in the U. S.

Navy during Vietnam and was a member of Goldonna Baptist Church. He was employed by Exco Recourses in Goldonna as a process operator. Ted, Nick and Eric were known for their watermelon patch. Jack G. Beaird, 83, died in Shreveport on Sunday, April 28, 2002. Visitation for family and friends will be held at St. Paul's Episcopal Church beginning at 2 until 4 p.m. on Tuesday, April 30th.

Mr. Beaird will lie in state at Osborn Funeral Home. Funeral services will begin at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, May 1, 2002, at St. Paul's Episcopal Church.

Officiating will be The Reverend Guido Verbeck, Rector of St. Paul's Episcopal Church. Interment will follow at Forest Park Cemetery. Mr. Beaird was a native and lifelong resident of Shreveport born on September 20, 1918, to Thomas Beaird and Marie Gray Beaird.

He was a member of the Board of Directors of the Louisiana Division of the American Cancer Society, was elected President of the Division at its Annual Meeting for the fiscal year of 1960-61. He was active for many years in civic organizations Including United Fund Campaign since 1947, Chairman of the Goodwill Industries Drive in 1955, and in 1959 served as Chairman of the American Cancer Society Campaign in Shreveport, and was Treasurer of the Travelers Aid Society. Mr. Beaird was a graduate of Byrd High School and L.S.U. Bafton Rouge with a B.S.

Degree in Business Administration and was a graduate of the Graduate School of Banking of the South at L.S.U. During World War II, he served as a Lieutenant Colonel in the Anti-Aircraft Division of the Coast Artillery. During his tour of duty he married Mary Jane Hunter, the daughter of Joe and Sybil Hunter of Shreveport, He was a member of the St. Paul's Episcopal Church, the Petroleum Club, Shreveport Country Club, and the KA Fraternity at L.S.U).' He was King of the Holiday in Dixie Cotillion in 1991. He was connected with the Commercial National Bank in Shreveport since 1946 and retired as Executive Vice President.

He was member of the American Institute of Banking. Mr. Beaird was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Jane Hunter Beaird; and grandson, Michael Paul Beaird. He is survived by his daughter, Joanna Hunter Beaird Carson and husband, Glenn of Houston, TX; two sons, Dr. Jack Beaird, Jrand wife, Linda of Golden Valley, MN, David Beaird and wife, Shevonne Marie of Los Angeles, CA; eight grandchildren, Katherine Rooks, Joe Beaird, Christopher and Kevin Carson, Joey, Denis and Albi Beaird; two greatgrandchildren, Marlin and Conner Rooks; two nephews, Tom and Brice Beaird.

He is also survived by his wonderful friend, Mrs. Robert (Julie) Nelson. Pallbearers will be his grandchildren. The family would like to express their love and appreciation to Dr. Bill McBride and his long time care companion, Mary Alice Thompkins Player.

She was a member of Haughton Southern Methodist Church. Survivors include her daughters, Betsy Terry and husband, Douglas and Carol Flowers and husband, Bob of Bossier City, LA; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
