Elms Takes Vows in New York The many friends of Leonard Brooks Elms, son of Mrs. Leonard Elms and grandson of Mr. and Mrs. James C. Elms of Fort Myers and East Orange, N.

will be interested in his marriage to Miss Nina Vitale, which took place May 28 at University, Va. The wedding as given in the New York Times ollows: Miss Nina Vitale, granddaugnter of the late Countess Giusseppina Barbaro Vitale, member of an old Venetian family, and Leonard Brooks Elms, a law student at the University of Virginia, were married here this afternoon at the home of the bride's uncle and aunt, Professor and Mrs. Harry Rogers Pratt. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. Dwight M.

Chaimers. The bride is a daughter of Mrs. Ferruccio Vitale of 17 East Ninety-sixth street, New York, and the late Mr. Vitale, well -known landscape architect. Her gown was of ivory satin and was worn with a tulle veil which was attached to a cap of lace, fashioned after the peasant style and tied under the chin with a band of tulle.

'The bride carried a prayer book with a marker of gardenias and lilies of the valley. Miss Lida Vitale who was her sister's only attendant, wore a frock of larkspur blue chiffon and a white picture hat and carried blue and white flowers. Allen Skinner Hubbard of Charlottesville was best man for Mr. Elms. A reception followed the ceremony.

Mr. Elms and his bride will take a motor trip through the South. For distinguished diplomatic service the bride's father, who was a son of Lazzaro Vitale of Florence, an Italian army officer, was decorated by the Italian government with the Cross of Vavalieri. He came to this country as a young man and served as Italian military attache and also as Italian military observer with the American army in the Philippines. Mrs.

Elms' mother, who is the former Miss Rosamond Flower Rothery, is 2 daughter of the late John Jay L. Rothery of Boston and the late Mrs. Rothery, who was Miss Rosamand Pentecost of Kentucky. The bride attended the Nightingale and Spence schools and in 1935 was graduated from the Dalton school. She studied also for a year in Italy.

Mr. Elms, who is a member of Virginia players and the Jefferson debating society at the university here, has also studied at the college of arts and sciences at the same institution and at the New York military academy. He belongs also to the Farmington country club in this place and the Fort Myers golf and country club, Fort Myers, Fla. GUEST TEACHER Dr. H.

Burgess Talks At Pineland School Dr. Charles F. Burgess addressed the graduating class of the Pineland-Bokeelia school on Wednesday evening. He stressed the importance of using the tools acquired in the first eight years and proved to the pupils how they would be beneficial to them in tne years to come. He congratuiated the teacher and pupils on their achievements during the past year, after which the rhythm band play ed "America" as a closing number.

Before the address, a program, "A Musical Aeroplane Trip Around the World" was given by the school. The teacher, Mrs. Waldron acted as pilot. The program follows: "Aeroplane Song," by school. "Indian War Dance," by five boys, recitation, "Trees," by Lillian Barnes; "Fandango," song and dance by Mary Katherine Caputo and Juanita Ross; piano duet, "Hawaiian Nights," by Miss Almo Hiltbrand and Mrs.

H. H. Hiltbrand; "Japanese Doll Dance," by rhythm band; piano duet, "Chopsticks," by Mary K. Caputo and Juanita Ross; song, "Far Off India," by school; "The Camel Train," by rhythm band; "Desert Song" by Mary Lou Williams; song, "Santa Lucia," Lillian Barnes, Mary Katherine Caputo and Juanita Ross; song and dance, "Children of Holland," by Florence Hiltbrand, Celeste Waldron, Mary Lou Williams, Jeannette Williams; "Chimes," played on xylophone by Billy Ekdahl; game, "London Bridge," by small children; "The Donkey, Trot," played by boys of the rhythm band; song and dance, "Coming Through the Rye," by Lillian Barnes and Mary Katherine Caputo; song, "Old Folks at Home," by audience and school. Estero School Has Graduation Service On Wednesday night, June 1, Estero public school held graduation exercises with Mrs. Effie Winkler Henderson and Miss Genevieve Morris in charge of the music. Those receiving recognition and rewards for outstanding accomplishments were neither tardy nor absent for year, Ethel Shenefield, fourth grade, Mary Alice Perkins, fourth grade; tardy but not absent for year, Eloise Fernandez, second grade; county marble champion, Oscar Edwards; county fourth grade spelling champion, Mary Alice Perkins; also $10 reward was given Mary Alice Perkins for learning multiplication tables through the 30th line going to the square of each line. Mrs.

E. O. Heusted and Mary Alvrus acted as examiners. Lovely presents were given graduates by the Koreshan unity. Rev.

J. W. Swanson of Fort Myers delivered a very inspiring address on the subject, "A Good Name." Dancing is a required course at the U.S. West Point Military academy. Off to California MRS.

EDWARD M. CONROY AND HER DAUGHTER, MRS. CHESLEY F. PERRY Mr. and Mrs.

Conroy and Mr. and Mrs. Perry left yesterday by motor for San Francisco, Cal. Mr. Perry, representing the local Rotary club and Mr.

Goodrich Weds Miss Foster Today Ceremony to Take Place At Home of Bride on Riverside Drive Miss Barbara Gail Foster, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. oster, and Harrison Goodrich, son of Mrs. Beulah Goodrich, will be united in marriage in a quiet ceremony at 8:30 o'clock this morning at the home of Miss Foster's parents on Riverside Drive.

Miss Foster will wear a tailored frock of white sharkskin and her corsage will be of gardenias and Talisman roses. Her attendant. Miss Christina Hill of Miami, will wear a dress of electric blue crepe with navy accessories. Her corsage will be of red roses. Chadbourne Wiltshire will serve as best man.

The ceremony will be performed by the Rev. William Graham Kennedy, pastor of the Presbyterian church, in the presence of a small group of relatives and friends. The house will be decorated with potted palms and tall baskets of white gladioli and white roses. An informal wedding breakfast will be served following the ceremony, after which the young couple will leave by motor for a wedding trip of a week on the East Coast. Miss Foster, as a going away ensemble, will wear a dress of luggage tan.

Jaycees to Sponsor Benefit Dance Friday The junior chamber of commerce will sponsor a benefit dance Friday night from 9 until 1 o'clock at the Town club.

The proceeds will be used to defray the expenses of sending Oscar Edwards of Estero and Lee county marbels champion to Gulfport, on June 12. At Gulfport he will participate in the southern tournament. Bill Smith and his orchestra will contribute the music for the dance and the Everglades Flower shop will give corsages to the sponsors who are Mrs. Gilbert H. Parker, Miss Christine Needham and Miss Sophie Draughon.

Eighty members of the Jaycee club have been mailed tickets and they are asked to pay for them at the Town club, chamber of commerce, Elof Peterson at the Lee County bank, or at the door the night of the dance. The committee in charge of arrangements is composed of Elof Peterson, Leo Engelhardt, Jack McDowell, Lynn Gerald and W. W. Cheery. BEST DANCERS Miss Mamie O.

Clements and C. T. Tew were awarded a loving cup as the prize for the couple giving the best exhibition of ballroom dancing Friday night at the graduation dance at the pier. The juking contest was won by Miss Martha Anderson and Gordon Colcord, who also received a loving cup. BUS PUPIL PARTY ST.

JAMES CITY- Mrs. James Hord was hostess Tuesday afternoon with cake and ice cream for the pupils who ride on the school bus she drives. Those on her bus list are Louise Pomeroy, Janet Watkins. Bobby Nelle Host To Young Friends Bobby Nelle entertained a group of his friends with a party Friday at his home on Riverside Drive.

Beach School Has Closing Program The Mayhew Page school held closing exercises on 1 Thursday evening at 7:30 at the chapel. Despite inclement weather, the chapel was packed to the doors.
