Leonard Martin Coyle Campbell Couger and Beane Fewer Auto Injuries Reported September Crashes Up Nobody Killed In Gty Accidents Though there were 27 more automobile accidents in Corpus Chris-tl last month than in September of 1953 there were 16 fewer injuries a report released yesterday by Lt Baskett head of the police traffic division revealed To date there have been 2201 accidents in the city compared to 2353 at the same time a year aga There were 219 accidents in September compared to 192 last year No Fatalities In another column the city was ahead of last year No traffic fatalities were counted for September whereas there was one death in September of 1953 There were 32 injuries last month compared to 48 in the same month of 1953 The city has recorded 530 injuries to date this year compared to 526 last year So far thin year five persons have been killed in traffic accidents compared to six of September 1953 Of the accidents 96 happened in outlying business areas 82 in reridental areas 23 In the downtown business area five in industrial areas seven in open country and six in school or playground areas Areas other than intersections accounted for 121 accidents and Intersections 98 Daytime hours claimed 162 of the wrecks and there were 57 after dark accidents The worst days tor accidents were Saturday and Thursday and the worst hours were from 4 to 6 pm Students Top List Students led the list of drivers involved in accidents with 38 There were 35 housewives 33 professional persons 28 truck drivers 28 business persons and clerks 22 military personnel cab driver 10 five city bus drivers and three city employes Listed according to ages more men between the ages of 21 and 30 were involved in accidents There were 119 in this category In all there were 314 males Involved
