Centuries Funeral Home 686-4334 By Vickie Welbom Times Mansfield Bureau EBARB The state Health Department on Thursday lifted a tap water boil order it imposed in August, citing inadequate treatment at the antiquated Twin Island plant the Ebarb Water District leases from the Sabine River Authority.

Don Bell, a water system customer and secretarytreasurer of Ebarb Water District, couldn't have been more elated. "We've been doing everything in our power to correct this problem. Since April, we have had a plan in action. But it just took time. Most of this wasn't in our control." Some 1,600 customers about 6,000 people are serviced by Ebarb Water District, which provides water to the Toledo Bend Lake area and communities including Zwolle, Ebarb and Noble.

The boil order meant customers had to disinfect their water by boiling it at least 5 minutes before using it. The water now flowing through Ebarb's lines is being pumped through a new 13-mile, 12-inch pipeline from South Toledo Bend Water System. A series of temporary in-line booster pumps is pushing the water through. A permanent booster station and storage tanks should be under construction in about six months.
