Gift Accident Just East of Newark Stalls Long Line of Trains on Lackawanna Railroad Crowds Bound For New York Delayed an Hour For Business. "I try to give my children well-cooked food. I have always given them oatmeal for breakfast, and used to spend at least two and a half hours cooking it. Oatmeal, as you know, needs to be thoroughly cooked. "Then I learned something that by using H-O Oatmeal I could do away with nearly all that cooking.

"You see, H-O has been cooked for over two hours at the mill by a special process. I have to cook it only twenty minutes. "And H-O has a much better flavor than the oatmeal I used to cook over night, due to the flavor-retaining process used by the makers. It's economical, too; costs less than half-cent a dish." There are many women who have been through this experience and are serving H-O Oatmeal as a result. Why not serve it yourself tomorrow morning the only steam-cooked Oi.

4. Thousands of commuters from Newark and stations to the west were held up during the rush hours by the breaking of a shaft of the draw in the bridge of the Delaware, Lackawanna and Western railroad over the Passaic river. Before the bridge was in commission Vstbound trains were stalled for miles to the west of the broken draw. More than 65,000 passengers were held up, including those in the "Millionaires' express" from Morristown. and thousands left the train and hired carriages or walked to Newark, where they got Hudson tunnel trains to Manhattan.

So many were forced to do this that the tubes were overburdened by the throng and there were long lines waiting at the station for a chance to board a train. The trouble was caused when the draw of the 300 foot bridge was opened to allow a tug and her tow to pass through. As the draw was being closed a shaft which formed its main support snapped, and the draw could not be closed. Several trains were due there in a few minutes when this happened, and the signals at either approach to the bridge were set against them just as they approached the bridge. Section hands were sent to the bridge from Newark to repair the draw.

They worked at top speed for nearly an hour before they succeeded in closing it and making sure that it would be safe for trains to pass over. When this was done the trains passed slowly over the draw, those bound for Hoboken being the first sent away. No trains were allowed to pass each other on the draw, with the result that the westbound trains were stalled much longer than the eastbound ones. It was more than two hours before the east-bound traffic began to get into normal shape.
