mishap occurred at the intersection of Second Avenue East and ourth Street when Bradley A Labere 22 of Columbia alls failed to yield the right of way to a vehicle driven by Michael O'Neal 19 Kalispell Bob erguson 18 a passenger in the O'Neal vehicle received minor cuts in the accident Labere was cited for failure to yield the right of way Mayor selects Haarr Kalispell businessman Dale Haarr has been appointed to represent the city on the Kalispell City County Planning Board Mayor Norma Happ made the appointment Monday She said Haarr will replace resigning board member Howard Hammer Hammer left the post in August Haarr is the manager of the Kalispell Mercantile and a former member of the Kalispell City Council council meets COLUMBIA ALLS Columbia alls city council members heard duscussion about a construction ordinance change in ire Zone 1 at Monday regularly scheduled meeting City Clerk Charleen Lyngstad said a change easing restric tions which permit only block construction within the area one block east or west of Nucleus Ave was requested A committee was appointed to study the situation and make recommendations to the council In the only other action council members approved Patrolman James Cox for continued employment following the standard one year probationary period Obituaries Marie Andersen 69 Marie Andersen 69 of Kalispell died in Kalispell late Tuesday evening She was bom July 16 1906 in Menomonie Wls a daughter of Marius and Antonia Petersen As a child she moved with her family to North Dakota where she had received her education at Blaisdell On March 12 1925 she was married to Martin Andersen at Stanley Dak The couple had farmed at Westby until moving to Kalispell in 1956 where they had resided since that time Mrs Andersen was preceded in death by her husband Martin on June 1 1972 and a daughter lorence Johanson in 1962 She is now survived by one son Robert Andersen of Kalispell a daughter Mrs Paul (Marilyn) Harris of Visalia Calif eleven grandchildren two great grandchildren one brother Elmer Petersen of Kalispell one sister Mrs Clarence (Lillian) Tommerup of Kalispell and a number of nieces nephews and other relatives uneral services for Mrs Andersen will be conducted in the Johnson Chapel on riday with the A Baugn pastor of the irst Presbyterian Church officiating Burial will be in the Conrad Memorial Cemetery The lathead Drainage 208 Project has launched a public involvement program to seek input from lathead area resi dents on problems and solutions for a regional water quality plan The 208 project has been assigned the task of reviewing sources of water pollution in the lathead drainage and proposing an areawide waste treatment management plan Virginia Bums public relations for the project announced an Informational newsletter Is being prepared for public distribution and that public meetings will begin the first week in November The south end of the drainage Is Invited to attend a public meeting in Polson 7:30 pm Nov 4 at the Security State Bank The north end meeting will be in Kalispell 7:30 pm Nov 6 at the Conrad National Bank The water quality board meeting will be in Tolson 7:30 pm Oct 30 In the Security State Bank Topic of discussion will be the recommended budget for the project AU interested parties are encouraged to attend County considers road abandoment The lathead County Commissioners are considering the abandonment of the Canadian Trail Road near Polebridge so that it may be used recreationally by snowmobilers Commissioner Mel Wollan said the primitive road parallels another road entering Glacier Park and Intersects a snow mobile trail that leads to the Canadian border He said the road has been used for the past several winters by snowmobilers Wollan said he has received a letter from Lee Downes presi dent of the lathead Sno Catters Association requesting the road closure Downes said in the letter such a move would be "greatly project sponsored by the EPA and the Montana Department of Health and En vironmental Sciences In a certificate of Appreciation signed by EPA ad ministrator Russell Train the Guardsmen were cited for outstanding services benefitting "the restoration and maintenance of the physical chemical and biological in tegrity of and the waters" The National Guard unit receiving the commendation Is
