BY ELIZABETH FRANKLIN STAFF WRITER As the Simpson County YMCA after-school program teeters on the brink ofextinction, another local after-school program is getting bolstered. Magee First Baptist Church is enhancing their programs being offered to the community through their childcare center. Kathy Van Cleave is the daycare committee chairperson and said that the facility has made a number ofupgrades including increased security measures ofthe daycare. Tommy L. Whatley Magee Tommy Lavell Whatley, 66, ofMagee passed away Thursday, August 18, 2011, at Magee General Tommy was born in Magee on August 1, 1945, a son ofthe late Bessie (Walker) and Bill Whatley. He is survived by: his wife, Peggy (Badeaux) Whatley; a son, James Whatley; three daughters, Holly Whatley, and Bessie Whatley, ofMagee, and Tanya Whatley ofMt. Olive. He is also survived by two grandchildren and a niece and nephew.

Religious service was at Corinth Baptist Church, Magee, at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 20, 2011, with Rev. Donald Wayne Green and Rev. Leon May officiating. Interment followed in the Corinth cemetery.

James Morgan Williams Mt. Olive James Morgan Williams, 62, ofMt. Olive passed away Friday, August 19, 2011, at his residence. He was born in Magee on August 24, 1948, a son of the late Alene (Royals) and Louis Morgan Williams. He is survived by a son, Todd Williams.

Other survivors include eight step-grandchildren; two aunts, Edna Earl Williams and Mary Jo Robertson; and a host ofcousins and other relatives. James Morgan was preceded in death by his wife, Lennie (Williamson) Williams. Visitation was Wednesday, August 24, 2011, beginning at 8 a.m. with services following at 10 a.m. at Tutor Funeral Home Chapel, Magee, with Rev.

Danny Dickerson, Rev. Maxwell Price, and Rev. Raymond Jeffcoat officiating. Interment was in Siloam cemetery. Yolandia Webber Bassfield Funeral service for Mrs.

Yolandia Webber, 57, Bassfield will be held on Saturday, August 27, 2011 at 11 a.m. from the Reeves Funeral Home Chapel, Mount Olive. Interment will be in the Wheeler Cemetery, Bassfield. Mrs. Webber passed away on Saturday, August 20, 2011 as a result ofa fire accident at her residence.
