Okays Survey For Sewerage facilities were authorized to proceed with more lurvey work lor sewerige system ruakttowa Urt night, at town meeting in the fire hall build- A itiadlng vote showed (he iriajorily ol the large turnout fnvored construction of the sewerage lystem, which preliminary survey showed would cort about $518,000. Raymond C. Regnier and John B. Gillett, of the engineering firm of Whitman, Requart. Baltimore, presented approximate figures on the cost to Funks town of the long-discussed project, at last night's meeting.

They estimated the $518,000 figure on a basis of 1,250 persons and more than 300 homes within the town limits. The town's residents were- also told that the total annual cost to the town would be ap prOximatcly $38,000, covcrina payments on both the principal and interest, if the project were financed through (he issuance of bonds that would be repayable ofcr a 40-year period. Funkstown, officials pointed out, is in an excellent financial position at present, with no bonded indebtedness whatever, and some cash in the bank. Mayor Guy Hebb called to order last night's meeting, and introduced the members of the Toivn Council. Also introduced was Leo Cheney, who was on hand as a representative of the Washington County Health Department.

The authority given to the engineers as a result of the meeting last night calls for a more comprehensive survey that will cover approximately six-month period, to pin point costs and obtain other in formation that would be re quired to permit actual start on the sewerage system. The Funkslown residents were fold last night that the cost to them of the sewage service would be based on their water consumption rate. They were reminded thai landlords and tenants would find it necessary to arrange for paying their share ol a sewerage system's expenses but on the other hand, there is reason to believe that if a sewerage system is not buill health autioritie-s would order the town to take steps event ually to eliminate the presenl use of cesspools a septic tanks. The sewerage plant projeci has long been under discussion by Funkstowu persons. Previoui 'hopes that tie-in might be arranged with the Hagerstown sewerage plan were shattered when Funks town authorities were advised that Hagerstown would not con sent to such a plan.

This means that Funkstown must include a disposal plant in its new facil itiCJ.
