A group managed by Robert Garrett Sons, was the successful bidder for the securities. Later in the day they reof.

fered the bonds, scaled to yield tax-free income ranging from 4.30 in 1973 to 6 per cent for the final maturities in 1987. Three other bids were made for the bonds which Standard Poor's had rated A and Moody's A-1, two bids from New York houses and the other from a Baltimore-managed group. Stein Bros. Boyce, Legg Co. and the Union Trust Company of Maryland were other members of the winning group.

Mulligan, manager of Garrett's bond department, said Wicomico's last financing was completed in 1967 when the Eastern Shore county borrowed $1,130,000 at 3.99 per cent in a vastly different market.
