For ome youngsters it means relurn- ng for the second and third summers and for otlrers it wilt be l.cir first visit. The youngsters arc sponsored iy the Friendly Town plan of the few York Herald Tribune Fresh Mr Fund. Last season 9,392 oungsters from the crowded (reels of the metropolis visited ,800 Friendly Towns in 12 eastern tales and thousands of others at- ended model Fresh Air camps in Duchess County, owned and nalntalned by the fund.

Tomato Juice with crackers, Braised Short Ribs Wild Rice Warm Rolls Endive Salad with French Dressing sx Cottage Pudding Coffee Tea Milk Braised Short Ribs 3 pounds short ribs (cut in 4 serving pieces) VA tsp, salt tsp. pepper 54 cup flour 2 onions, peeled ar-d grated Yi cup finely cut celery leaves Bay Jeaf, crumbled V4 cup salad oil cups beef stock or consomme cup cold water 1 Tbsp. flour 2 Tbsp.

heavy cream or sour cream I tsp. sugar Roll and tie each serving with string. Mix salt, pepper, and flour. Dredge meat lightly and place in roasting pan with cover. Start oven at moderate -(375 degrees F).

Combine onions, celery leaves, bay leaf, and oil. Pour over meat. Brown uncovered in oven about 30 minutes, turning meat frequently. When well browned, add 'lock or consomme to half cover. Cover pan with lid.

Lower heat to moderately slow (300 degrees F) and continue cooking about 1 Irour or until meat is tender. Test with fork and continue cooking if necessary. Remove meal lo wanned platter and keep it hot. Discard siring. Skim fat from roasting pan liquid.

Stir cold waler inlo flour smoothly. Add slowly to hot liquid in baking pan. Stir steadily over moderate heat until thickened, aboul I or 1 minules of boiling. Stir in cream, add sugar, and bring to a boil again. Pour over meat and serve at once.

Makes 4 servings. xt Cottage Pudding with Coffec-TOffee Sauce 1 pkg. spice cake mix 1 cup firmly packed brown sugar cups hot strong coffee 2 Tbsp. cornslarch 3 Tbsp. cold coffee 2 Tbsp.

butter 2 tsp. vanilla Prepare cake mix as directed on package. Bake in oblong pan, 13 9 2 inches, as directed. Meanwhile combine brown sugar and hot coffee. Stir over low heat until sugar melts.

Blend cornstarch and cold coffee; stir in. Cook and stir until sauce boils and thickens. Remove from heat. Add batter and flavoring. Stir until butter dissolves.

Case will be in charge of the program on Friendly Service.

A feature of the meeting will be a i auction of miscellaneous arlicle and baked goods. The proceeds will be added to the Friendly Service fund for Migrant Workers. Members are also asked to collect arlicles of clollung for the Thrift Shops conducted by the Uniled Church Council in southern states. All types of clothing are reeded except women's heavy coats and there is a great demand for baby clothes and diapers. A slate of officers will be presented for consideration by the nominating committee, Mrs.
