Saturday, May 6, 1995 E-9 'The King of Dance Hall' Tommy McLain to perform Together, we have the power to change the future. si i The King of Dance Hall, the legendary Tommy McLain and his Mule Train Band will be performing at the Cochon de Lait Festival in Mansura. The father of numerous hit songs, McLain can lay claim to "Sweet Dreams," which sold over three million copies, making it one of the best sellers of all time on the pop charts. Other well-known songs by McLain include: "Jukebox Songs" "Roses Don't Grow Here Anymore" Known for his riveting personal lyrics, he is the author of Freddy Fender's golden hit "If You Don't Love Me." McLain's rendition of swamp pop, oldies and blues tunes have taken him throughout the U.S., as well as England, Mexico and other points abroad.

His sound and style got him a guest role in the hit movie "Drowning Pool," with Paul Newman and Joann Woodward. McLain also has his own radio show on KREH, AM-900, in Oakdale, where he spins the records of Louisiana artists every Tuesday at 4 p.m. on The Tommy McLain Swamp Pop Show. Singer Tommy McLain The Mule Train Band includes Elwood Charles on lead guitar, Danny Guillory on rhythm and bass guitar, Johnny Smithey on saxophone and Barry "The Big Mac Attack" McLain singing and playing the drums.
