83, were held at 12 noon Friday, November 12. 1993 at Mount Pilgrim Baptist Church in Clarence. La. Officiating was Rev. Robert Williams.

Interment was in Mount Pilgrim Cemetery. Mrs. Phillips died Friday, November 5, 1993 in the Virginia Hall Nursing Home after a lengthy illness. She was born in Portland, Arkansas but resided in Shreveport most of her life. The family received friends from 7-8 p.m.

Thursday November 11. 1993 at Winnfield Funeral Home. Survivors include two brothers, Dan Phillips. Jr. Climon Phillips; two sisters, Inah Mae Phillips of Shreveport; a niece Catherine Morris, Houston, TX; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Thomas Edmund Turnley, Sr. SHREVEPORT, LA Services for Mr. Thomas Edmund Turnley, 77 were held at 10 a.m., Friday, November 12, 1993 at Rose-Neath's Marshall Street Chapel. Officiating was Dr. T.

Floyd Davis, pastor of Caddo Heights Baptist Church. Burial was in Forest Park Cemetery. Visitation was from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, November 11, 1993 at the funeral home. Mr.

Turnley died Wednesday. November 10, 1993 in Shreveport after a lengthy illness. He was born in Caddo Parish and was a lifelong resident of Shreveport. Mr. Turnley was a retired accountant for Arkansas Louisiana Gas Company.

He was a member of Caddo Heights Baptist Church, the Cedar Grove Masonic Lodge, a Notary Public and member of the Northwest Louisiana Square Dance Association. Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Mrs. Sue Turnley of Shreveport; two sons, Thomas E. Turnley. Jr.

and wife Sharon of Jamaica Beach, Texas and Pat Turnley and wife Charlotte of Shreveport; one daughter, Mrs. Sarah Ehrlich and husband Bob both of Columbia, South Carolina; three sisters, Ruth Abney Dement of Shreveport, Byrdle Kline of New Caney, TX and Lola Ewell of Dallas, TX; one brother, Virgil Turnley of Shreveport; and three grandchildren, Terri, Mark and Brad Turnley. Mrs. Maddox, a retired church librarian, died Sunday, November 7, 1993 at St. Joseph Hospital, Ft. Worth, TX after a sudden illness. She was bom in Hattiesburg, MS and had resided in Shreveport for the past 60 years.

Mrs. Maddox was a member of Noel Memorial United Methodist Church for over 45 years. She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, C. H. "Mac" Maddox.

Survivors include two sons, Wayne Maddox of Ft. Worth, TX and Lynn Maddox of Chicago, IL; one sister, Emily Smith of California; three grandsons and three great grandchildren. Isadore "Fannie" Roth, age 79, were held at 3:00 p.m. Monday, November 8, 1993 in the Agudath Achim Cemetery. Officiating was Monte Pomm. Mrs. Roth died Sunday, November 7, 1993 at Schumpert Medical Center following a lengthy illness.

She was a resident of Shreveport most of her life and a member of Agudath Achim Synagogue. She was preceded in death by her husband, Isadore Roth; and her daughter, Toby Rothberg. Mrs. Roth is survived by one brother, Herman Gomolsky of Shreveport, Louisiana; one sister, Hannah Goldstein of Flint, Michigan; and several nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the charity of the donor's choice.

November 11, 1993 at 1:00 p.m. at Antioch Baptist Church. Officiating was Rev. William B. Hines of the St.

Luke Baptist Church. Family Hour was 7:00 p.m. at Winnfield Funeral Home. Dr. Matthews died November 4, 1993 in Schumpert Hospital after a lengthy illness.

He was born September 18, 1915 to Malcolm and Hattie Cline Matthews, in West Baton Rouge Parish. He was the second of seven children. Dr. Matthews early education was in West Baton Rouge Parish. He received a Bachelor of Science Degree from Leland College, Baker, LA, a Masters of Theology from Central School of Religion, Indianapolis, and a Doctorate of Divinity from United Theological Seminary, Monroe, LA.

David taught math and Science at Ruben McCall High School in Tal-lulah, Theology at Billips Center in Clinton, and was Dean of United Theological Seminary, Shreveport Extension for 18 years. Dr. Matthews was called into the ministry at the age of eighteen. He was later ordained into the ministry in Portland, Oregon in 1945. He began his pastorage at St.

Mark Baptist Church in Chambertin, LA. While pas-toring St. Mark he also pastored Traveler's Rest Baptist Church in Tal-lulah, and Star Bethlehem Baptist Church in Baton Rouge, LA. In 1957, he was called to pastor Antioch Baptist Church in Shreveport where he remained for thirty years, retiring in 1987. Dr.

Matthews served his country in the United States Army during World War II. While in service he served as chaplain and received an honorable discharge in 1945. In other affiliations he was a member of Alpha XI Sigma Chapter of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, a 33 degree mason, member of Evening Star Lodge 113, Tallulah, LA. Prince Hall Affiliated, James O. Bampfield Consistory 53, Shreveport, LA.

Dr. Matthews designed the current budget of the 13th District Association and served as its' secretary for 4 years. President of Louisiana State Convention Sunday School Congress for 3 years, for which he drafted the current structure, and was appointed to the Home Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention, which he served for 15 years. Dr. Matthews was a devoted husband and father who provided to the best of his ability for his family and in later years his grandchildren.

He is survived by his faithful and devoted wife of 54 years Leola Pollard Matthews; three children and spouses: Marion Joyce (Jesse Mullen, Shreveport, Carl L. (Mary Joan) Matthews, Boley, Oklahoma; Barbara Jean (George Burney, Shreveport; Seven grandchildren: Shawn Taylor, Dallas LeJuana Gerard, Shreveport, Carla Patrick, Aurora, Mark Tayler, Summer-ville, N.J., LeMont Ford, a student at Southern University, Baton Rouge, Andre Ford and George D. Burney, Shreveport. Two great grandchildren: Alex Gerard and Asha Patrick. One sister, Gertrude Henderson, of Ervinville, three brothers; Malcolm Matthews, III, Ervinville, LA, Gus and Herman Matthews, both of Seattle, Washington; one brother-in-law, four sisters-in-law, a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, nephews, cousins and many, many friends.

John William Decker MARSHALL, TX John William Decker died Saturday. November 6, 1993 at Good Shepherd Medical Center after a lengthy illness. Mr. Decker was bom May 6. 1923 to Dr.

J.W.I, and Bellzora Decker in Cass, Texas. He lived most of his life in Atlanta, Texas. He was pre-de-ceased by his parents. He was owner of Decker Poultry and Egg Inc. He is survived by his wife, Vida James Decker and six daughters and sons-in-law, Margaret and Charles Miller, Sharon and Richard Turnley, both of Shreveport, Belinda and Allen Hicks of Carthage, Vicky Sheffer Carter, Lisa Jon and Terry Sprayberry of Marshall, TX and Johnette and Dean Rascoe of Waskom.

He is also survived by his brothers and sisters, Wilson Decker of Orange, TX, Harry Decker of Atlanta, TX, Minnie Kellet of Lufkin, TX and Lydia Clark of Atlanta, TX; eleven grandchildren; and three nieces. He was a member of and AM Lodge 463, Atlanta, TX, Scottish Rite of Dallas, Texarkana Command-ery of Knights Templar and El Karu-bah Shrine Temple of Shreveport. The family is very grateful 'or the loving care given to Mr. Decker by Dr. Mary McGee and the support to the family.

Services for Mr. Decker were held at the Hanner Funeral Chapel at 2:00 p.m. Monday, November 8, 1993 with burial immediately following at Pine Crest Cemetery in Atlanta. Visitation began at 2:00 p.m. Sunday at Hanner Funeral Service of Atlanta.

She was born September 17, 1902 in Mena. AR and lived her adult life in Louisiana. She and her family lived in Shreveport from 1940 to 1943 and in Monroe from 1943 to 1978. While in Monroe she worked for Southwest Gas Producing Co. from 1948 until she retired in 1969.

In 1978 she moved back to Shreveport and eventually to Stonewall to live with her daughter. In Monroe, she was a member of First United Methodist Church and a member of Broadmoor United Methodist Church in Shreveport. She was preceded in death by her husband. James W. "Wim" Tooke in 1948; her parents.

William B. "Chief" and Catherine L. Montgomery; and by two sisters. Gladys M. Stein and Hazel M.

Butler. Survivors include one daughter, Sandra Funderburk of Stonewall; sons and daughters-in-law, James W. "Jim" and June Tooke of La Luz. NM, Richard "Dick" E. and Sandy Tooke of Hot Springs.

Visitation was from 12 noon til 3 p.m. Thursday at Rose-Neath's Southside Chapel. Mr. Musgrave died Wednesday, November 10, 1993 after a lengthy illness. He was bom in Cove, AR and was a resident of Shreveport for 51 years.

He was a retired air traffic controller. Mr. Musgrave was a member of Mangum Memorial United Methodist Church and the Masonic Lodge, Mansfield, AR, 32nd Degree Mason. Mr. Musgrave is survived by his wife, Dorothy June Musgrave, Shreveport; one son, Marshall Otis Musgrave and wife, Carolyn, Richardson, TX; one daughter, Rebecca June Callicoatte and husband, Joe, Shreveport and four grandchildren.

Braunig SHREVEPORT, LA Lawrence C. Braunig died November 10, 1993 after a lengthy illness.

Mr. Braunig, a lifelong resident was born July 29, 1915 to parents. Asher and Louise Braunig, who preceded him in death. Mr. Braunig was a World War II Air Force veteran and was well known for his multitude of talents and hobbies.

Survivors include his wife, Evon; sister, Jane Feinberg; brother, Stern Feinberg of Texarkana, Texas; special friends, Harold Cecil, Russ Little and Rev. Scott. Mr. Braunig donated his body to medical science. Memorials may be made to charities of donor's choice.

The family wishes to extend their thanks to Stephanie George for her dedication and special care to Mr. Braunig doing his illness. Donald Earl Millen BENTON. LA Services for Mr. Donald Earl Millen, 61, were held at 10:30 a.m.

Monday, November 8, 1993 at St. Judes Catholic Church in Bossier City, LA. Officiating was Rev. Richard Norsworthy, pastor. Visitation was from 5:00 p.m.

Donald Earl Millen, died November 5. 1993 in Bossier Parish after a sudden illness. Don Millen was born December 6, 1931 to Earl and Bonnie Millen in Tipton, Oklahoma. He grew up in Bossier City and graduated from Bossier High School in 1951. where he lettered in football and track for four years.

Mr. Millen attended Northwestern State University, and graduated with a S. degree, majoring in Physical Education. He received his Masters Degree in 1972. Don Millen also lettered in football for three years, making all Gulf South Conference.

He participated in track for three years and gymnastics for one year. Don Millen entered military service in 1956 for five years and departed the military with the rank of 1st Lieutenant. 1963 thru 1966. Donald Millen was head coach of the Freshman football, basketball and track at North Caddo High School. He moved up to varsity coach of the offensive football and head coach of varsity track in '65 and '66.

In 1966, Donald Millen was the offensive coordinator in football and head track coach for Leesville High School. 1967-68 he became head coach for Many High School, football and track. In 1972. Donald Millen was an assistant football coach at Benton High School until he was assigned to Airline High School as head track coach and assistant varsity football coach. In 1987, Donald Millen realized a lifelong dream when he took over as head coach at his alma mater, Bossier High School.

He was a true Bear-kat, until his retirement in 1991. Presently, he was assistant coach at Plain Dealing Academy. He is survived by his wife, Anita Dodson Millen; his mother, Mrs. Bonnie Millen of Shreveport; three sons, Don E. Millen of Benton, LA, David E.

Millen and wife, Susan of New Orleans, LA and Dodd E. Millen and wife, Lyndia of Bossier City, LA; one daughter, Denise Millen Fort and husband. Tracy; one brother, Roy F. Millen and wife, Camille of Shreveport; three grandchildren, Christopher Millen, Justin Millen and Christopher Fort; and a number of nieces and nephews. Mr. Easterwood was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Jane Easterwood and brother, Charles Easterwood. Survivors include two sons, Jack Easterwood and Donald Easterwood, Jr. and his wife, Jennie. The family suggests that memorials be made to the First United Methodist Church of Shreveport or the Methodist Children's Home in Ruston, La.

Sunday at the funeral home. Mr. Rowland died Friday, November 5, 1993 at Schumpert Medical Center. He was a native of Para-gould. Arkansas and a resident of Bossier City.

Mr. Rowland was a real estate salesman and a member of the United Methodist Church and the Martin McClanhan Masonic Lodge. He is survived by two sisters, Mary A. Williams, with whom he lived and Lillian Gentz of Springs Green, Wisconsin; one nephew, Louis Gentz of Tully. New York; one niece, Susan Greenwood of Spring Green, Wisconsin; two aunts; and several cousins.

Frances Baskerville were at 10:00 a.m. Monday, November 8, 1993 at St. John's Episcopal Church with Father Paul Martin officiating. Burial was in the Minden Cemetery under the direction of Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden. Mrs.

Baskerville was born in Con-verse. LA in 1912. She moved to Minden in 1938 and in 1940 married Purnell William Baskerville, who died in 1973. Mrs. Baskerville began teaching elementary school in 1938, going on to teach Biology and Plane Geometry in high school most of her career.

She retired in 1970. She was named Outstanding Biology Teacher in the State of Louisiana in 1968. She was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church and a Sunday School Teacher. She Is survived by one son, Bill Baskerville of Gilmer.

Texas; two daughters. Ms. Ellen Baskerville of Sarosota. Florida and Mrs. Eve Cousins of Shreveport, Louisiana; four grandchildren, Jimmy, Genevieve, William and Bryan; and one nephew, John Ryan Cates of Pleasant Hill, Louisiana.

Visitation was held at Osborn Funeral Home at 3631 Southern from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, November 7. Graveside services were held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Forest Park Cemetery. Officiating was Dr.

William Peoples, pastor of Broadmoor United Methodist Church. Mrs. Clarke was a native of Collin-ston, Louisiana and a resident of Shreveport since 1928. She and her late husband, E. R.

Clarke, founded Clarkes Jewelers in 1931. She was active in business until 1973. She was one of the first women watchmakers in the United States. Mrs. Clarke was preceded in death by her husband.

E. R. Clarke and a son, Harold Lee Clarke. She is survived by a son, Eugene Clarke and his wife. Betty; grandsons, Eugene, Jr.

Rosetta Levy Elmer, 76, were held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, November 10, 1993 at Greenwood Cemetery. Officiating was Rabbi Michael Matuson of B'Nai Zion Temple. Mrs. Elmer died Monday, November 8, 1993 in Shreveport after a brief illness. She was a native and lifelong resident of Shreveport and a homemaker.

Mrs. Elmer was a member of B'Nai Zlon Temple, B'Nai Zion Sisterhood, National Council of Jewish Women and many cultural and civic affairs in Shreveport. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Albeit N. Elmer.

Survivors include two sons, Dr. Edward M. Elmer and wife Bobbi, and M. Michael Elmur and wife Martha; two grandchildren, Amy B. and Todd M.
