A The tone of your question leads me toHelieve- there is some confusion here. The Gregg County Commissioners Court designated the airport as a nonsmoking facility, except for designated areas. That has nothing to do with the City of Longview ordinance, previously addressed in this column which encourages private business establishments to set their own policies concerning smoking. In other Texas cities, such as Austin, which have strict no-smoking laws that extend to private businesses, there are no "Smoke Buster" law enforcement agencies that patrol looking for smoking violators.

Enforcement generally is left up to the discretion of the store manager who may or may not be willing to file a formal complaint against a smoking ordinance violation. 1 read the article the other about uses for leaves. How come the big city of Longview cannot unstop the drain at the corner of Lancer Drive and North Lane Wells? It is getting people's sewer lines stopped up, even in their bouses. A A city crew was dispatched to the location and no stoppage was found; the lines were clear. City personnel also spoke to residents of the street and further investigation of job tickets revealed only one stoppage during the past 18 months.

Why dont they do something V6ouf the traffic on Cheryl Street in Spring Hill? The speed limit sign says 30 mph, but they go through here faster than that. Why were pelicans "touring" our area on New Year's Day at Lake Cherokee? Is this normal or did cold weather reroute them in some way? A "No comment" was the response I got from the first five pelicans I interviewed, but a Texas Parks and Wildlife worker told me that it is not. unusual to see pelicans on East Texas lakes.
