Charles Causey "Bunker" Hill, 76, will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, March 3, 1991, at Gardens of Memory Cemetery with Father Pike Thomas officiating. Services are under the direction of Pennzoil in 1977. Pogo, which took its name from Pennzoil Offshore Gas Operators, was set up to look for natural gas in the Gulf of Mexico. William and Hugh Liedtke got their start in the oil patch after serving as naval officers in the South Pacific during World War II.

In the mid-1950s, the Liedtke brothers teamed up with President Bush, then a Texas oilman, and John K. Overbey to form Zapata Petroleum before their involvement with Pennzoil. Bush said Saturday through a spokesman, "Barbara and I are deeply saddened at the loss of our very dear and close friend, Bill Liedtke. Bill was an outstanding member of his community, first in Midland and then in Houston. "Our sincere condolences go out to all the Liedtke family.

We will miss him very much." Liedtke also was an associate of the National Park Foundation, the National Committee of the Ameri- can Land Trust and a member of the Nature Conservancy. Ex-El Paso Times editor dies at 90 EL PASO, Texas (AP) William Jarvis Hooten, who was editor of the El Paso Times for 30 years, has died. He was 90. Hooten, who retired in 1970, died Friday of heart failure. Born in Chocowinity, N.C., Sept. 5, 1900, Hooten came to El Paso in 1918 and worked as a telegrapher for The Associated Press for nine years before joining the El Paso Herald on Sept.

7, 1927, as a reporter. But when the Herald merged in 1931 with the El Paso Post to become the El Paso Herald-Post, Hooten joined the El Paso Times. He served the Times as managing editor for nine years before becoming editor. "He was a good man who believed in the El Paso community. He worked hard to make this a better city to live in for all its citizens.

He will be sorely missed," former El Paso mayor Raymond Telles said. His wife of 65 years, Grace Bull Hooten, died in 1987. Among the survivors is his son, Charles Hooten, an El Paso County commissioner. funeral home ttl Rose-Neath Funeral Home MR. JAMES N.

Mrs. Edwards, a native of Ben-tonvilie. and Shreveport resident since 1948, died Saturday March 2, 1991, at her residence following a lengthy illness. Hill was preceded in death by his father, Clay Lon Hill; his mother, Maylah Causey Hill; a brother, George Walker Hill; wife, Alsie Clapp Hill; his beloved son, Fred Maylah Hill. He is survived by his wife, Vernice Scalfano Hill, the former Mary Vernice Rachal, formerly of Minden. There will be a flag ceremony bv members of the American Legion. Services are under the direction of Bailev Mortuary of Cotton Valley. Mrs. Alford, a native of Arcadia, and a resident of Cotton Valley for 51 years, passed away suddenly Friday, March 1, 1991, in Minden, La. following a sudden illness. She was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death bv her husband, J. T. Alford on October 4, 1985. She is survived bv three sons, James Alford of Longview, Texas, Kenneth Wayne Alford of Security, David Alford of Bossier City; one daughter, Beverly Serna of Cotton Valley; two brothers, Ted C. Youngblood of Shreveport, Blanchard Youngblood of Minden, one sister, Marion Karchiefski of Melbourne, Fla.

Major Alan Wayne Dreher MONTGOMERY, ALA. -Services for Mai or Alan Wayne Dreher, 39, will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, March 4, 1991 at Hill Crest Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Hill Crest Cemetery. Mr. Dreher died Thursday, February 28, 1991 in Montgomery following a sudden illness.

He was a resident of Montgomery, Ala. and a former resident of Haughton. Mr. Dreher was a graduate of Haughton High School and Louisiana Tech. He was commissioned in the U.S.

J. "Jake" Dorman SHREVEPORT A memorial service for Mr. E. J. "Jake" Dorman will be held at 11 a.m.

Mondav, March 4, at Willow Point Baptist Church. Officiating will be Bro. Benny Barnes Bro. Fisk Ray, Pastor Minister of Senior Adults. Mr.

Dorman, a native of Joaquin, Texas, and a resident of Shreveport for over 50 years, died Saturday, March 2, 1991. Mr. Dorman was an agent for American National Insurance Co. and an Independent Insurance Agent. He served as Treasurer of his church for over 20 years.

He was preceded in death bv one son, John Wilson Dorman on December 25, 1969. He is survived bv his wife of 52 years, Marguerite 5. Dorman; two sons. Bill and his wife Harlene, Wade and his wife, Susann; two grandsons, John and Paul. The family suggests memorials may be made to Willow Point Baptist Church.

PAID ANNOUNCEMENTS Mr. James N. Patterson SHREVEPORT, LA Services for Mr. James N. Patterson, 72, will be held at 11 a.m., Mondav, March 4, 1991 at Brown Chapel, Centenary College.

Officiating will be Rev. Carl Rhoads, pastor of First United Methodist Church of Minden, assisted by President Donald Webb, Centenary College and Father Sheldon L. Rov of Natchitoches, La. Burial will be in Forest Park Cemetery. Mr.

Patterson will be in state at Rose-Neath's Marshall Street Chapel from 2 p.m. Sunday, March 3, 1991, until service time Mondav. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. on Sunday.

Mr. Patterson died Thursday, February 28, 1991 in Houston, Texas following a short illness. He was born in Camden, Arkansas and had been a lifelong resident of Shreveport. Mr. Patterson was retired manager for Prudential Insurance Company N.

W. La. Agency and was a Chartered Life Underwriter. He was a 1936 graduate of Ruston High School and 1940 graduate of Centenary College. He was a life member of Centenary College Board of Trustees, past President of Centenary Alumni Association, President and Treasurer of the Gents Club, as well as one of the founders.

He was Chairman of the 50th Class Reunion at Centenary College. Last weekend Mr. Patterson was named to the Centenary Alumni Hall of Fame. He held memberships in the Shreveport Country Club and the Shreveport Club. Mr.

Patterson was a member of the Broadmoor Presbyterian Church and served with the U.S. Army during World War II, attaining the rank of Captain. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mariorie F. Patterson. He is survived by his wife, Lillia (Bettie) Landaiche Patterson of Shreveport; one son, William W.

Patterson and wife, Terri of Farmerville, one daughter, Judy Patterson Moore and husband, Taylor of Shreveport; one sister, Jean Patterson Armstrong and husband, John of Ruston, brother, Rhodes A. Patterson and wife, Norma of Chicago, Illinois; six grandchildren, James N. Patterson, Mary Patricia Patterson, James T. Moore, Stuart F. Moore, Casey Savage and Davy Laird; three step-daughters, Constance Holderer and husband, Alain of Houston, Texas, Catherine Bordelon of Marksville, La, Elizabeth Rov of Boulder, Colorado; two step-sons, Father Sheldon L.

Patterson or the Holy Cross Catholic Church in Natchitoches, La. Mrs. Etienne (Bea) Millet BROUSSARD, LA. Funeral services were held at a 2 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial Saturday in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Broussard for Mrs.

Etienne (Bea) Millet, 73, the former Irma Becnel who died Friday, March 1, 1991, at her residence. The Rev. Jean Marie Jammes, pastor, Sacred Heart Church officiated. Interment will take place Monday at 10 a.m. in the St.

James Catholic Church Cemetery in St. James, La. Mrs. Millet was a native of St. James, the daughter of the late Waiter A.

Becnel and the former Leocadie Havdel, and had been a resident of Broussard since 1986. Survivors include: one daughter, Geralvn Millet Hurst of Homer, four sisters, Sister Mary Magdalen of Lafayette, Rita Becnel of Laplace, Mrs. Ray (Anne) Comeaux of Broussard, Sophie B. Buck of Greenville, North Carolina; two brothers, Paul Becnel of Reserve, Walter Becnel of Luling, and two grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Etienne (Bea)) Millett; her parents, and three brothers, Richard, Bernard and Fernand Becnel.

Pallbearers will be David Morvant, Wade Millet, Brian Becnel, Ronald Millet, Wallace Morvant, Paul Becnel, Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be Paul Becnel, Walter Becnel, Ricky Hurst, Rav J. Comeaux, Irving Morvant, Earl Guidry, Stephen Faulk, Earl Faulk, Jr. The family requests that donation in Mrs. Millet's memory be sent to Hospice of Acadiana.
