Mrs. Thomas, 68, died October 19, 1 997 after a lengthy illness. She leaves to cherish her memory husband, Bennie Thomas; children, Manuel C. Alex Linda Alex-Woods (Freddie), Willie Alex, Mary Sharon Thomas-Milton (A.C.), and Clifton Walker; 12 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, father in-law Henderson Thomas sisters, Helen Wilkins (Anthony) and Johnnie V. Graham (Leroy); and brother, Eddie Powell Jr.

(Beatrice). Miss Laurie Alisa Pope SHREVEPORT, LA Laurie Alisa Pope was born March 1, 1971 to Elder Ellis Pope and Mrs. Minnie J. Pope and she departed this life Saturday, October 1 8, 1 997 at Schumpert Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, October 25, 1997 at Whites Temple COGIC.

Officiating will be Supt. Frank Ford of Opelousas, LA Family hour will be Friday, 7 to 8 p.m. at Restoration Crusade COGIC. She received her formal education in the public schools of Caddo Parish and her Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry at Howard University in Washington, D.C. She is survived by parents, Elder and Mrs.

Ellis Pope, one sister, Ellis Joyce Pope-Marshall (Curtis) of Fort Polk, LA; three brothers, Elder Talben Pope (Shonda), Patrick F. Pope (Allison), and Dotties Pope, all of Shreveport, LA; loving and caring grandmother, Mrs. Lena Johnson of Shreveport; a very special friend, Dr, Terry Fletcher, of Ft. Bliss, TX; a host of relatives and friends. George William (Curley) Russell SHREVEPORT, LA Services for George William (Curley) Russell, 71, will be held 11:30 a.m.

Saturday, 25, 1997 at Rose-Neath's Southside Chapel. Officiating will be Father John Cunningham, assisted by Brother Skip Palmer of Samaritan Hospice. Burial will follow at Forest Park West Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Friday, October 24, 1997. Mr. Russell was born in Shreveport, LA and was a lifelong resident. He died in Shreveport October 23, 1 997, after a lengthy illness. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, member of The Iron Workers Local 591, and Fair Park Masonic Lodge.

Mr. Russell was an avid fisherman. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters. He is survived by his wife of fifty years. Fay Berlin Russell; daughter, Fay Dunn Cunningham and husband, Bobby, of Shreveport; sisters, Dorothy Stewart and husband, Harold, of Lake City, FL, Linda Clancy and husband, Bill, of Ypsilanti, Ml, Jackie Cotham and husband, Richard, and Betty Howard "and husband, Connie Ray, both of Shreveport, LA; brother, Charles Wayne Russell of Pineville, LA; children, Stephen Reives and Caroline Fay Cunningham; beloved dogs, Roxie and Beaux and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family suggests that memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society. Rose-Neath Funeral Homes Southside Chapel, 687-1256 Dael T. Bryan SHREVEPORT, LA Mr. Dael T. Bryan, 78, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 23, 1997 at Willis-Knighton Medical Center.

Funeral services will begin at 1:30 p.m., Saturday in the chapel of Osborn Funeral Home. Officiating will be Rev. Rodney Duron and Rev. Wade DeForest of First Assembly of God. Interment will follow at Centuries Memorial Park.

Visitation will be held at Osborn Funeral Home on Friday, October 24 from 5 until 8 p.m. Mr. Bryan was a native and a lifelong resident of Shreveport. He was a member of First Assembly of God. Mr.

Bryan was preceded in death by his parents; and by two brothers, his twin, Gael Bryan and Clair W. Bryan, Jr. He is survived by his wife, Catherine Bryan; two step daughters, Cathy Allen and husband, Chalmus, Debbie Berteau and husband, Glen; one stepson, Denny Ellis and wife, Sharon; numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be John Fontaine, Clair Bryan, III, Keith Hill, Mark Bryan, Denny Ellis and Jay Slaughter. Honorary pallbearers will be Rev.

until 7:00 p.m. Friday, October 24, 1 997. Mrs. Meckel, a native of Eastland, TX, passed away October 21, 1997 in Shreveport, LA following a brief illness. Mrs.

Meckel retired after 30 years in advertising sales with the Times and Shreveport Journal. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Martha Lee Roach; sisters, Minna Roy, Ponda Jacobs and Nell McClendon; brothers, John H. Ainsworth and Eugene R. Ainsworth. She is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Herbert O.

Meckel of Shreveport, LA; daughter, Frances Jean Jones of Orange, Tx; grandsons, Louis B. Roach, III and wife, Pat of Shreveport, LA, Herbert L. Roach and wife, Sally of Greensboro, NC, David Lumpkin and wife, Jeri of Tylee, CA, Stephen Lumpkin and wife, Mae of Vallejo, CA and Mark Lumpkin and wife, Theresa of Lima, Peru; 10 great grandchildren and 17 great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends. Pallbearers will be Richard Roach, John Roach, Kelley Ferguson, Charles Lambert, Bob Ammons and Hal Anderson. Bee wanted to "travel around the world" and was fortunate enough to accomplish this two times.

She was a lady of many interests and especially enjoyed playing duplicate bridge and was always ready for a game or a party. The family wishes to express its appreciation to Dr. John Underwood, Drs. Indira and Simhadri Sastry, the second floor nurses at Doctors' hospital and the staff at Grace Home for their compassionate care and concern. The family suggests that memorials may be made to St.

Mark's Cathedral, the Schumpert Grace Home or to the Grace Presbyterian Church. Moore departed this life and entered into God's Rest on October 1 8, 1997 at Veterans Administration Hospital. He was bom February 8, 191 1 in Edgefield S.C. and was a resident of Shreveport for over 45 years. Bro. Moore was a dedicated husband, a loving father, step-father and devoted grandfather.

He was a retired TSgt. from the U.S. Air Force and also retired from Federal Civil Service. He was a member of Little Union Baptist Church. Bro.

Moore also was a member of American Legion Post 525, Zion Hill Lodge 64, Air Force Sergeants Association and the American Military Society. He leaves to celebrate his long life: his beloved wife, Adele Moore; brothers: Matthew Moore of Greenville, S.C, Edward Moore (Robbie Lou) of Washington D.C.; children: James Oliphant (Sarah), Doris Franklin, Gertrude Washington, Ulysses Moore (Diane), Maxine Moore, All of Greenville, S.C; Leroy Moore of Penis California, Fred Moore, Jr. (Florida) of Cal City, California, and Henrietta Howard of Shreveport; step-children: Billie R. Jinter of Richmond, Lorenzo Powell (Joyce) and Nita Mack Steele (James) of Shreveport, Pamela Mack Robinson (Ernest) of Birmingham, Ala. and Lennie Wayne Rasberry (Jackie) of Houston, Texas; 48 grandchildren, 74 great-grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.

His family will remember him with much affection, admiration and love.
