The Rev. W.E. Nolan, pastor of the Vivian United Methodist Church, where Mr. Blankenship wasa member, will officiate. Burial will be at Chapelwood Memorial Gardens In Vivian.

Mr. Blankenship died Monday February 24, 1986, In Vivian after a brief illness. He was born In Big Island, Va. and had been a resident of Vivian for 22 years. Mr.

Smith, 81, of Shreveport, will be held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday February 25 at Forest Park Cemetery. Dr. O. Pugh, minister to Senior Adulst of the First Baptist Church of Shreveport will officiate.

Arrangements are under the direction of Osborn Funeral Home. Mr, Smith died at 2 p.m. Sunday Feb. 23, 1986, at his residence after a sudden Illness, He was a native of Livingston, Texas and had been a resident of Shreveport since 1924. Mr.

Smith was a member of First Baptist Church, the Shreveport and Louisiana Bar Associations, the Shreveport Gun Club and the Elks Club. He Is survived by his wife, Edna B. Smith of Shreveport; one brother, Jack Smith of Mineral Wells, Texas; two nieces, Camllle Eptlng of Jackson, Miss, and Pat Boggess of Little Rock, Ark. Burial will be at Rosewood Memorial Park In Houston. Mr. Merritt, a vocational teacher at Milby High School, died Sunday February 23, 1986, In Houston. He wasalso an Instructor at Houston Community College, Apprenticeship Program. He Is survived by his wife, Mrs.

Gary Lavern Merrltt of Houston; one daughter, Doris L. Anthony; one son, Russell Edward Merrltt; two brothers, W.E. Merritt and J.A. Merritt; two grandchildren, two greatgrandchildren. Family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday Feb.

Services for Mr. Isaac L. "Ike" Rhodes, 42, of Natchitoches, will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday February 26 at the First United Methodist Church In Natchitoches. The Rev.

James Poole will officiate. Burial will beat Mt. Zion Cemetery near Montgomery, La. under the direction of Funeral Home in Natchitoches. Mr.

Rhodes died Monday morning February 24, 1986, at his residence after a lengthy illness. He was a member of the Notional Firefighters Association, International Association of Firefighters, Professional Firefighters Association of Louisiana, Arson and Fire Prevention Association of Louisiana, Fire Chiefs Association International and Association of Fire Chiefs. He was a member of the Kiwanis Club. Mr. Rhodes, Chief of the Natchitoches Fire Department, had been with the fire department for twenty vears, serving as firefighter and driver from 1965 to 1973, when he was promoted to Captain and Training Officer.

In 1985 he was named Chief of the Natchitoches Fire Department. Mr. Rhodes was instrumental in training and encourging the development of volunteer departments in Natchitoches and surrounding parishes. He was preceded in death bv his parents, Mr. and Mr.

William Selby Rhodes. He is survived bv his wife, Kathryn King Rhodes of Natchitoches; one daughter, Susan Amanda Rhodes of Natchitoches. Pallbeares will be members of the Natchitoches Fire Department. She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, James and Shirley Bourg of Shreveport; one daughter and son-in-law, Vera Alice and Tommy Davis of Fort Worth, Texas; one sister, Leo Duckworth of Shreveport; and a number of nieces and nephews.
