Duran Summers, corps, was released from and station at Fort Brown and assigned to duty at Field, Calif. Lieut, and Mrs. Summers departed from Fort Brown Thursday on a short leave of absence and will report for duty at the new station prior to June 30. Maj.

Clyde plckett was assigned to 12th Cavalry upon completion of a course of instruction at tho command and General Staff School at Port Leavenworth, Kas. Maj. Pickett is expected to arrive at Fort Brown Saturday. Maj. John Beeson, medical corps, has been assigned to Fort Brown.

He was to depart from Fort Randolph Field, where he was flight surgeon, Friday. Mrs. Beeson and two sons will arrive at Fort Brown June 30. Lyceum At El a i Friday A program will be presented by Dr. Lawrence olmated and a number of Boy Scouts at the Lyceum Friday evening at 8 o'clock in the El Jardin school auditorium.

Thomas Sweeny and Peyton and Thomas, returned Wednesday from Virginia, where they had gone to meet the latcer who was a student at V. M. I. this past term and bring him home. They were gone three weeks.

Thomas, plans to return to the institute next term. Miss Lydla Champion, manager of the Charity Home, underwent an operation at the Mercy Hospital Wednesday, she is improving rapidly. Colonel and Mrs. Francis Glover of Fort Brown have visiting them, their daughter Mrs. Charles Harvey, and Mr.

Harvey and two young daughters of Miami, Okla. The Harvcys visited at the post last year and have a wide circle of Eastern Star Practice Postponed The practice session which was to have been held Friday evening by members of Hope Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star at the Masonic Temple, has been postponed until Tuesday evening at 8 o'clock, according to Mrs, W. J. Vertrees, worthy matron. The masons are installing new officers on Friday evening, causing the postponement of the practice.

Mrs. Ver trees -urges that all officers of the chapter be present on Tuesday as initiation ceremonies are to be held the second meeting in July and a great deal of practice must be done before that time, Mr. and Mrs. Frank A- Smythe and two children, who have been visiting Mr. and Mrs.

J. C. Musel, Bridge Club And Guests Entertained Miss Mar wortman entertained members and guests of the O. B. club Wednesday evening at her home on 313 Levee street.

Three tables were appointed for bridge games, at the conclusion of which, high score prize was awarded to Miss Georgia Singer. A dainty green and yellow color scheme was carried out in the foral decorations of daisies and fern. A refreshment plate consisting of sandwiches, cake and coffee was servel. Miss Wortman had as her special guests, Misses Margaret McCandless, Lorene Strein and Mary Helen George. The club will have as hostess next week, Miss Singer.

Spend-the-Day Party At Port Isabel Thursday An old-time spend the day party was given Thursday by Mrs. D. P. Gay, Jr. at port Isabel where she is spending the summer months.

Current events were discussed and at noon a delicious sea food dinner which included oysters and fish was served. The afternoon was spent playing contract bridge and at "six o'clock the guest wended their way back to Brownsville after having spent a most delightful day with Mrs. Gay. Herbert Scoville of San Benito celebrated their silver wedding anniversary at thetv Monday evening. About 60 friends gathered on the spacious lawn of the Scoville home and enjoyed chatting. Mary's hospital in St. Louis, Thursday from a heart ailment, according to word received here. Mr. Morris, connected with the Stone department store here, was in St. Louis at the time.

Mrs. Morris is survived by her husband, a six-months-old 'son, her father, Jack Kern, of Edina, two aunts, Mrs. Jim Sharer and Mrs, Prank Royer, both of Harlingen, and a sister In law, Mrs. C. L.
