Force" into hiatus Thursday and put low-rated working-class hero "Lenny" on indefinite hold in the First prime-time schedule changes of the season. CBS also sped "The Flash," its superhero action show, away from a clash Thursday night against Fox's "The Simpsons" and NBC's "Cosby Show," which are expected to battle for supremacy in the prime time's first half-hour. At ABC, NBC, and the Fox Broadcasting there were no schedule changes to be announced in their respective schedules, executives said. "E.A.R.T.H. Force," an environmental action show, failed in the ratings and with critics, who complained that it was underwritten, overacted and that the capital letters and periods in the show's title were too difficult to type.

It finished 85th in last week's A.C. Nielsen Co. ratings, its last broadcast was Sept. 29. "Lenny," which stars Lenny Clarke, will return to the schedule in a time period soon to be announced, CBS said.

It ranked 78th last week, and its last episode aired Wednesday at 8 p.m. EDT. "We are anxious to see it back on our schedule in a time period where more viewers will be available to enjoy it," said Peter Tortorici, CBS' senior vice president of program planning. CBS News' "48 Hours" will move from Saturday nights into the vacaterd "Lenny" slot on Oct. 24, the network said.

CBS also said the Oct. 25 premiere of "Sons and Daughters," a multi-generational family drama, would be delayed "until a later date."
