Julv ltit THE SiiKEXFPOKT TIMES Charter Unopposed by Mayor DEAT Earlier this year Mayor Snyder sounded like a man ready to work for defeat of the charter after severely condemning certain sections. Some of his main objections centered around a provision requiring contractors working for the city to pay Louisiana's "prevailing wage scale" and another section giving the council powers similar to those of courts. Snyder, like commissioner Malcolm Hebert, declined to endorse the charter by taking a neutral stand. He also would not comment on how he will vote Aug.

Edward Peteet MARSHALL, Tex. Edward L. Peteet, 63, of Marshall died Wednesday in a local hospital. Funeral services will held at 11 a m. Friday in the Sullivan Funeral Home chapel with the Rev.

Harvey Lewis officiating. Burial will be in the Colonial Gardens Cemetery. Mr. Peteet was a prominent Marshall attorney. He was a member of the Central Baptist Church and a mason.

Survivors include his widow; two sons, William E. Peteet of Denton and Allen C. Peteet of Marshall; a daughter, Martha Peteet of Dallas; a brother, Gordon Peteet of Shreveport; and two grandchildren. Sirs. J.

Tyler, 88, of Marshall died Thursday in a local 64 years. She is a member of the Episcopal Church of The Redeemer. -Funeral services for Walter Williams, 90, of San Augustine will be held at 10 a m. Friday in the Wyman Roberts Funeral Home chapel. Burial will be in the Chapel Hill Cemetery. Mr. Williams died Wednesday in the San Augustine Memorial Hospital following a long illness.

Sirs. ELie Furrow Elsie Mar Furrow, 63, of 129 Archer died at 4 a.m. Thursday in Fairfield Hospital after a long illness. The Houston, native had lived in Shreveport for 25 years. She was a retired officer maaager for a consulting engineering firm.

Mrs. Furrow was a member of John Calvin Presbyterian Church and the Shreveport Orchid Society. Survivors include her husband, John Furrow; her mother, Mrs. Elsie Stulting of Gaitherburg, Md a son, Doyle Cochran of Los Angeles, a daughter, Mrs. Johnelle Daniel of Glen Rock, N.J.; a sister, Mrs.

Canty, 71, of 822 Captain Shreve Drive, wfto died Wednesday at Highland Hospital after a long illness. A Shreveport resident for 30 years, he was a native of DeQuincy. He was a member of Broadmoor Baptist Church. He was a retired employe of Kansas City Southern Lines, serving as superintendent of the Louisiaaa-Arkansas Division at the time of his retirement. Ada Canty; two sisters, Mrs. Emma Estes of Lake Charles and Mrs. Lula Turner of Leesville, and a brother, Arthur E. Canty of New Orleans. The Rev.

a geologist and chairman of the board of Warrior Oil died Tuesday at his home in Oklahoma City. A native of Demopolis, he graduated first in his class at St. Bernard Preparatory School in Cullman, then went to Chicago University. At Chicago University he was a member of Phi Beta Kappa and in 1922 was graduated with honors. He obtained his A.

degree from Stanford University in 1925. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served in France and Germany after enlisting in 1917. Mr. Obering was employed by Shell Oil Co.

A. Phillips Mrs. B.A.Phillips 87, of 217 Bruce Ave. died at 7 p.m. Wednesday in Nurse Care Center after a long illness.

Mrs. Phillips was a native of Ruston but lived most of her life in Shreveport. She was a realtor. Mrs. Phillips was a member of First United Methodist Church the United Daughters of the Confederacy, Chapter 237; Real Daughters of the Confederacy; Daughters of the American Revolution; the Real Estate Board and the Shreveport Bossier Board of Realtors.

Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. R. Bewley and Mrs. J. L.
