The main discourse will be at 2 p.m. Sun plied with diagrams of the soybean plots, took on the task of "sending love" to the experimental areas each night at 11:30 p.m.

for about 40 days. The Rev. Noel Cornely, founder and minister of the non-denominational church which incorporates ideas of various major religions and which works with extra-sensory perception, says: "THESE EXPERIMENTS deal with the direct communication of energy, as a kind of nourishment." Alexander said the process involves "psycho-kinesis with living things. It's similar to what people do through prayer and to the whole idea of spiritual healing. In this case, it's healing, for the soybeans." Although psychic communication involving human beings has been attested by various researchers, the idea of such communication with vegetation has been generally considered far-fetched.

NEVERTHELESS, A recent book on the subject published by Harper and Row, "The Secret Life of Plants," by Christopher Bird and Peter Tompkins, has been a best-seller in recent months. Alexander, who did his undergraduate work at Harvard and who holds advanced degrees from the University of San Francisco and Michigan State University, said "plants have some degree of consciousness. So do all forms of life, although certainly not to the same degree as human beings." Following the results of the soybean experiment on the farm of Maynard Bigamon, Alexander said he and several others plan to undertake experiments through "sending' love" to several of Bigamon's dairy cows. "HE HAS accurate records on the milk production of all his cows and we'd like to see what we can do about increasing it," Alexander said. As for the bean crop next year, he added, "By carrying on the experiment throughout the entire growing season, the results should be even more spectacular, increasing the yield 10 to 20 per cent." NEW YORK (AP) With county officials measuring the results, experimenters on an Ohio farm say they found that portions of a field that had been the object of loving prayers yielded the biggest crop.

The case offered an unusual instance of recent stepped-up interest In psychic phenomena, viewed by many with keen skepticism. "SOMEHOW GOD'S creative energy of growth can be channeled through us even to plants," says Gus Alexander of Wright State University, who holds a doctorate in communications research and who set up the project. It was carried out on a soybean field near Jamestown, Ohio, east of Dayton, with daily prayerful attention of a church group focused on six designated plots, but not on six adjoining control plots. Alexander says the yield of soybeans receiving the special attention was increased by 4 per cent over the comparable control plot, even though the experiment had extended over only a third of the-growing season. "IF PUT to use, our psychic abilities our abilities of prayer could vastly improve the world's food supply," says Alexander, who.

teaches speech communication and who began studying psychic phenomena about a year ago. "By some means, when a person concentrates on sending his love, God channels that love to others, to a pet or even a plot of soybeans' he said in a telephone interview. In checking results of the experiment late October, the Greene county agent's technical assistant, Donald H. Tate, was on hand to weigh the yields from the six experimental and six control plots. ACCORDING TO the figures, five of the experimental strips had produced heavier yields than had adjacent control strips, while in the sixth case, the control strip had a slightly greater yield.

In the experiment, a group of 10 people at Dayton's Church of the Golden Key, sup Key Mormon Official At Stake Conference Fr. "Needs increase and the dollar buys less; and caught in this squeeze, the church must increase its giving-" ACCORDING TO the pastor, the 2.2 million-member denomination operates the largest foreign mission program of any Protestant church. In a number of primitive areas it provides the only medical and educational services available. The work requires 528 languages in the 189 countries in which the church has established work. "WHY DO THE HEATHEN RAGE?" Second Psalm and Acts 4:25 "Man. when left to himself, IS HALF FIEND AND HALF BRUTE." Bishop Hall. "Man, when left to himself. IS A MOTLEY MIXTURE OF THE BEAST AND THE DEVIL." William Law. 74 Comment: Do not soma look the part? The dread foes of man are not belligerent circumstances, but the riotous passions-the leopard of incontinence, the lion of violence, the wolf of avarice.

Incontinence means 'lack of restraint, especially undue indulgence of sexual passions: licentiousness, etc." Great nations and empires of history as a result of this sin have rotted from within, decayed, perished. Is not our great land in danger of the same curse, "Chastity is driven away as'an enemy by all men, like a snake." Is not the "lion of violence" and the "wolf of avarice" back of and the cause of riots, strikes, It is said that a wolf is hungrier after food than before. "A man may foretell as plainly as can be what will become of us, if we grow indifferent and lukewarn in repressing evil. Make it a shame to see men bold in profane-ness, and God will bless you. Be confident that our liberty and prosperity depend upon reformation-if not what difference is there between a man and a beast? "Beware of making laws in the face of God-telling The Almighty you will meet all His Dispensations, and stay things, whether He will, or no.

"God will curse me, if I put personal interests above duty." Oliver Cromwell. (Consider this last statement, remembering Pontius Pilate: "Suffered under Pontius Pilate" because of conflict of interest.) "Devoutly thankful ought we to be for the gift of great and good men. They are God's noblest wbrk-For nothing should the people of God more devoutly pray than that their great men may be good men. (If we had been doing that during the past few decades do you reckon we would today have a Supreme Court such as is, one that has taken away from our schools and children God's Book, The Bible, and The Lord's Prayer, I think not Or, we would have such men in authority over us that let them get by with it, I think not) One honest statesman-one great, sanctified, devout Christian man in the Senate or Cabinet of a nation, or at its head-is worth-more to a nation than all the riches of El Dorado and is a surer defense than all her armies and navies." "Every young man should strive by the best possible improvement of his talents and opportunities, to make himself a great and a good man. This is a true and noble ambition.

A great and a good man is the noblest work of God strive then, my young friend, to fit yourself for the times in which you live." God give us preachers, teachers and students, that put "THE STUDY OF THEIR OWN HEARTS" above the study of their books. "Search the Scriptures" for it is the mirror by which God reveals to us our hearts: "For The Lord seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the Lord liketh on the heart." 1st Samuel 16:7. "FOR ALL FLESH IS AS GRASS, AND ALL THE GLORY OF MAN AS THE FLOWER OF THE GRASS. THE GRASS WITHERETH, AND THE FLOWER THEREOF FALLETH AWAY: BUT THE WORD OF THE LORD ENDURETH FOREVER. AND THIS IS THE WORD WHICH BY THE GOSPEL IS PREACHED UNTO YOU." 1st Peter 1:24, 25.

"FOR ALL THAT IS IN THE WORLD, THE LUST OF THE FLESH, AND THE LUST OF THE EYES. AND THE PRIDE OF LIFE, IS NOT OF THE FATHER, BUT IS OF THE WORLD, AND THE WORLD PASSETH AWAY, AND THE LUST THEREOF: BUT HER THAT DOETH THE WILL OF GOD ABIDETH FOR EVER." 1st John 2:16, 17. P.O.
