A A NEWS-PRESS, SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 12, 1989 Mildred Roberts, 73, 'dedicated teacher' By JENNIFER BECKNELL News-Press Staff Writer Mildred Roberts, who taught students: at Pine Island Elementary School for 11 years, died Thursday in Fort Myers after complications after astroke. She was 73. "She loved teaching, she was just a dedicated teacher," said her daughter, Madelyn Roberts of Fort Myers. Mildred Roberts was born Oct. 27, 1915, in Richmond, Va.

She graduated from the Newark State Teachers College in Newark, N.J., her daughter said. She and her husband, Milton Roberts of Fort Myers, lived in Englishtown, N.J., where Mildred Roberts taught elementary school. They moved to Cape Coral in 1969 after Milton Roberts retired, their daughter said. They lived in Cape Coral for nine years and then moved to Fort Myers, she said. He was 78. "He always had a smile on his face," said his wife, Victoria Crane of Fort Myers.

"Everyone liked him. I don't know of a person who ever met him who didn't like him." Charles Crane was born Oct. 5, 1910, in Durand, Mich. He was president of the McBryde Boot Shop, a chain of women's shoe stores with five suburban Detroit locations. Crane enjoyed golfing and was an avid horseman, Victoria Crane said.
