TBDNfigDAY, JULY 26, 1967 ALTON EVENING TELEGRAPH Hunter Obituaries Eppinf, who survives. Also Mrs. Mary Hunter, wife of William T. Hunter of Beltrees, died early this morning in St. Anthony's Hospital where she had been a patient since Monday.

Mrs. Hunter, a registered nurse, had done private duty nursing in Alton since moving with her family to the area in 1957. Previously she had lived at Indianapolis, Ind. Her death'was attributed to multiple sclerosis from which she had suffered for several months. She had last worked in October of 1966.

The former Mary MacKenzie, she was born in 1920 at Rossville. During her early life she Holla, surviving are four sons, Herbert and Alvin, both of Rte. 1, Edwardsville; Charles of and Ralph of Char- lived in California where she was graduated from Los Angeles County Hospital School of Nursing. Surviving beside her husband are three daughters, Mary Kathleen, 6, Sally Louise, 8, and Susan Marie, 12; her mother, Hrs. Geneva Mae MacKenzie, Gary, and three sisters, Mrs.

Geneva Moore, Gary, Mrs. Margaret Perkins, San Jose, and Mrs. Ila Curry, Marlon, Ohio. The body is at Jacoby Bros. Funeral Home, Jerseyville, where friends may call after 7 p.m.

Thursday. Funeral services will be Friday at 2 p.m. in Bethel Methodist Church, East Newbern, where she was a member. Burial will be at East Newbern. The Multiple Sclerosis Society has been named as a memorial.

Services will be conducted at the funeral holme at 2 p.m. Friday. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Thursday at 2 p.m. In St.

Peter's Lutheran Church, Prairietown, with the Rev. Otto Horstman, officiating. Burial will be in Pralrietown Cemetery. The body is at Jacoby Wise Funeral Home, Bunker Hill where friends may call after 4 p.m. today and until noon Thursday when the body will be taken to the church.

Homann Rowley Tuetken EDWARDSVILLE Otto W. (Buck )Homann, of 3 Oak Hill Dr. in Grandview Place died at 6 a.m. today at St. Joseph's Hospital, Highland, where he had been admitted shortly after being stricken ill at his home.

Cause of death was not immediately determined. The body will lie in state at Lesley Marks Funeral Home from 2 until 5 p.m. Thursday. Friends may call at Eden United Church of Christ after 6 p.m. Thursday until the time of funeral services at 10:30 a.m.

Friday at the church. A brotherhood service at the church at 7 p.m. Thursday will be in charge of the pastor, the Rev. Robert 0. Laaser.

JERSEYVILLE Miss Bertha A. Rowley, 82, died Tuesday in Meline Nursing Home, Jacksonville. A former resident of Jerseyville, she was born Jan. 5, 1885, a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs.

Seymor Rowley. The body is at Jacoby Bros. Funeral Home where the Rev. Louis Purcell, pastor of First Methodist Church, wilj officiate at services Thursday at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery.

Visitation at the funeral home will be after 7 p.m. today. Primas Funeral Rites Held Today EDWARDSVILLE Graveside services were held here today at 10:30 a.m. for Michael Alan Primas who died at 5:45 p.m. Monday at St.

Jos- Ben Tuetken, 69, of 339 South Prairie, Bethalto, died at 1:35 a.m. today in Wood River Township Hospital following several years of failing health. He entered the hospital July 1. Mr. Tuetken, a painter, had been retired four years.

He was a member of Painters Local 471 Alton, and belonged to Wood River Lodge 1024 of I.O.O.F., and the Methodist Church, in Bethalto. A son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Tuetken, he was born Aug. 23, 1897, in Ft.

Russell Township. Survivors are his widow, the former Louise H. Oetken, a brother, Walter, Merced, and a sister Mrs. Lenora Stevens, Carlinville. Two brothers, George and Emil, and Mrs.

Delia Bangert, and an infant sister preceded him in death. Funeral arrangements are pending at Smith Funeral Home, Bethalto. He the Gusewelle BUNKER HILL Edward Gusowelle, 80, of Prairietown, a retired farmer, died Tuesday at I p.m. in Staunton Nursing Home where he was taken a week ago after being a patient for six weeks in Staunton Memorial Hospital. A life-long resident of the Prairietown area he was born April 16, 1887, in Moro Township.

His parents were the late Mr. and Mrs. Ernst Gusewelle. His widow, the former Tfflie Kuethe, whom he married in October of 1913, survives. He also leaves three daughters, Mrs.

Clifford Heine, Dorsey; Mrls. Wilfred Goebel, Prairietown, and Mrs. Gilbert Nie- Litchfield; two sisters, Mrs. Clara Meyer and Mrs. Ella Bartels, Edwardsville.

There are seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be Linkeman eph's Hospital, Highland, was born at 11:21 a.m. same day. Services were conducted by the Rev. Hervey Aberli, pastor of St.

Paul's United Church of Christ, Bluff Road, Edwardsville, at Sunset Hills Cemetery. The infant is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Larry Primas of 948 Hillsboro Edwardsville; a brother, Larry, 4 years old; a sister, Dawn Renee, and grandparents, Mr. and Mrs.

Lawrence Primas, Rte. 1, Edwardsville, and Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Ludde, Mitchell. West Alton Burial For Mrs.

Brass A Requiem Mass, with the Rev. Father Joseph Richter as celebrant, was sung Monday at 10 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Church, West Alton, for Mrs. Clara Brass, church organist. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Pallbearers were Felix Saale, Harold Boschert, Albert Brunstein, Robert Burns, Henry Bex- termueller, and Sidney Dwiggins. at Barnes Hospital, St. Louis. He had been ill for some time. Mr. Linkeman, a farmer in the Edwardsville area for the past 42 years and a former resident of the Granite City area, was born in St.

Louis on April 6, 1894, to the late Mr. and Mrs. Herman W. and Minnie Rapp Linkeman. He was married on July 23, 1916, at St.

Elizabeth's Catholic Church, Mitchell, to Theresa EDWARDSVILLE John Wesley Harris, 30, of Alton, sentenced a year ago to a prison term of 3 to 6 years upon his conviction in circuit court here for armed robbery in connection with the holdup of an Alton liquor store, has been granted a new trial on appeal to the Fifth District Illinois Appellate Court at Mt. Vernon. Harris, brought here from the state penitentiary at Menarc and lodged in the county jail was expected to be taken be fore a circuit judge later today for setting of bond pending a new trial in the case. Date the new trial has not been set Burglary Charged to Two Youths Two 18-year old youths were charged today by Alton police with burglary after an attempted break-in of an Alton firm early this morning. Police were informed at 2:41 a.m.

that two men were on the roof of the 0. T. Yates Produce Co. at 102 W. Ninth St.

Three squad cars were dispatched to the scene. One youth, Joseph Her, 18, of Rte. 3, Godfrey, was observed running down railroad tracks, and into weeds along the side of the tracks, police said. Funeral Services for Ollie Brian Jones Funeral services for Ollie Brian Jones, retired Alton High School engineer, were held Tuesday at 2:30 p.m.

A circuit court jury returned the verdict of guilty on th armed robbery charge in the Court of Circuit Judge Josep J. Barr on June 22 last year A motion for new trial was de nied, as was also a probatio equest, and Harris was sen- enced to the 3 to 6 year irison term on July 14, 1966. Attorney James Almeter of Alton was appointed by the 'ifth District Appellate Court serve as counsel for Harris his appeal from the convic- ion and sentence. The appellate court last weekend reversed the Circuit Court conviction here on grounds of error in the trial record, holding that such errors had prejudiced Harris' right to a fair trial, and ordered a new trial for the defendant. A copy of the mandate of the appellate court's ruling in reversing the armed robbery conviction has been received at the circuit court clerk's office here.

The mandate stated that in the opinion of the appellate court the record and proceedings, and judgment of the circuit court, "is manifest error," and therefore the judgment is reversed the case remanded to from then Alton Police Lt, Frank Schmidt, that the defendant had refused to make a statement to Alton police at the time of his arrest. Harris was represented by Attorney Edward D. Groshong of East Alton as defense counsel in the original trial.
