If you dont like what you're watching, wait about 30 seconds and something else that you think Is the funniest thing you've ever seen will begin to happen. "Pennies from Heaven" (Friday) Steve Martin and Bernadette Peters star In this musical drama that Is handsome visually and musically, but which leaves you with an unpleasant feeling even as you admire It. "Superman II" (Wednesday) Christopher Reeve plays the man of steel with humor and a sense of fun. The film looks better and Is better acted than "Superman By James Smethurst The New Jersey Nets are having a surprisingly strong season. Can they keep up their winning ways? A good test will be when the Nets meet the Seattle Supersonics Sunday in a game that will be televised on ESPN.

"The Music Man," which airs Tuesday on the Movie Channel, is one of the best film musicals. The ever suave Robert Preston stars as "Professor" Hill, a genial con man who blows Into River City, Iowa and sells the local high school on school spirit as well as bogus marching band uniforms and Instruments. Before he can make good his escape, he falls In love with Marian, played by Shirley Jones. "The Music Man" includes such classic songs as "76 Trombones," "Till There Was You," and the only song treating Gary, Indiana as a place of wonder and romance. Note also an early Ron Howard, who is probably the only former child star who appears younger now than he did then.

Nickelodeon's "Special Delivery" will present the saga of "Kavik the Wolf Dog" on Jan. 29. The drama, starring a Siberian husky and co-starring Ronnie Cox and John Ireland, describes the odyssey of a champion sled dog attempting to reloln a young boy who once saved his life.
