P. G. Fields of Neosho were dinner guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Vassar last Sunday.

Mrs. Vassar held the dinner In honor of the birthday Of mother, Mrs. Isabelle Oaks. Mrs. Oaks is still in good health and goes about, according to her wishes.

The guests all had an enjoyable time and departed wishing Mrs. Oaks many more happy Mrthdnys. W. F. rhilliber Is critically 111 at his home.

He hasn't been well for some time. The Hammers M. V. A. met Monday night at the school house with a much smaller attendance than usual.

The usual business cession was held, followed by a program. Plans for the next meeting 1 will bo made later. The pie social at Hammers last I Saturday night was fairly success- other fill. Friday. April will be the last meeting of the Literary Society. A good program is being prepared. The subject for debate is Resolved, That the World is Growing Morally Better. There will be a pie supper for the benefit of the Kicldoo Sluggers and the Monark Ball nine.

Rev. Rogers preached at Oakwood Sunday and Sunday night. The Sunday School at. Oakwood is preparing to send a case of eggs to the children's home of the Christian church at St. Louis.

Word was received by relatives of Earl Carey, who wont to California a short time ago to make his home. He stated that he went, up the valley last Sunday evening and the St. Francis dam broke Monday morning. having been paid and leaving the school out of debt. Supt Scantlln gave us a short call.

Miss Rhlnehart, grade school teacher, was present at the meeting. Our board of directors consists of O. H. Gale, Mrs. Anna J.

Cox and S. H. Walker Rev. Jones of Galesburg Is holding a meeting at the Baginaw Baptist church. He will prtach all this week.

Richard La ton gave a wlftner roast at the grade school frcm the Bth grade up, Tuesday evening. The Mothers' Club mtt with Mrs. Lorenzo March 28. Entertainment for the last of school was discussed. Those present were Airs.

Monday, March 20. Milo McGlassion shot a mad dog last week that snapped at his horses' feet and bit a pure bred Jersey heifer at Mrs. Adams' home. This is mart dog time and many parents are uneasy, whose children have to go to school through the timber. STri and Mrs.

J. Marrs were elected on the town board. Special road district No. 1 are proud, of their big graders. They are building a good road from Newtonia to Highway No.

16. They will begin on a highway running from Wanda to Muncle Chapel on Highway No. 44 in about two weeks. Col. Al Hudson was at' Wichita, Kansas, last Wednesday.

He was one of the auctioneers at a big stock sale there. Frank Jackson and wife went with their son Sherman, to Excelsior Springs where Sherman will take treatment for yellow Jaundice. L. N. Pannell has served as mayor for four terms and has been elected on the town board nine terms.

He succeeded In off of the board this year. C. J. Marrs or Col. Al Hudson will serve as mayor this year.

Bonnie Mae Embrey, daughter of Charles and Pearl Embrey, was born May 9th, 1926 in Pair- view, died March 29th, 1928. She leaves father, mother, one brother, Billie' Joe, and grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. R. D.

School Notes A. very interesting program, constating of a reading and two playlets "The Ant and the and "The Springtimes," wan given by the primary room in the assembly, Monday morning. The play given Saturday by the Wgh Ritchey the W. It with the Granby truck grader, last week. The Klddoo Sluggers played the Prairie Flowers of Newtonia a game of base ball, Sunday.

The score was 4 to 3 in favor of the Prairie Flowers. l.eo Mason of the Sluggers made-two of our three scores, and slashed out three, three-bag runs. They will play at Diamond Hall, Sunday, April 8th, and Sunday 15th the Prairie Flowers will play a return game at Monark. They may play bridge by radio, but it is yet. to be seen if we will have cross-word puzzles over the air.
