NEWS-PRESS, THURSDAY, JANUARY 26, 1989 9A r Missing student's body found ITHACA The body of a Cornell University freshman who disappeared last month during exam week was found Wednesday in a creek near campus, police said. Ithaca police divers pulled the body of Adam Stross, 18, of Loudon-ville, from Fall Creek at about 11:05 a.m., police said. His body was found in a 10-foot pool of water about 200 feet from Triphammer Bridge, a suspension bridge that spans Fall Creek Gorge along the campus' border. Ithaca police and Cornell campus security officers had been searching for Stross since he disappeared on the afternoon of Dec. 15 after helping a fellow student pack her car. Judge orders teen gambler to court ATLANTIC CITY A teen-ager who was courted by casinos as a high roller and eventually pleaded guilty to underage gambling must return to court to answer charges that she violated probation, a city official said. Debra Kim Cohen, now 19, failed to show up for three meetings with her probation officer and to provide proof that she was attending a program for problem gamblers, said city Prosecutor Steven Smoger. Jury rules woman's death was criminal WILLIAMSPORT A six-member coroner's jury has unanimously ruled the Aug. 13 death of a Muncy area woman was criminally caused, and officials say they will review the inquest testimony before deciding whether to initiate prosecution. The three-woman, three-man inquest jury deliberated for nearly five hours Tuesday before ruling at 3:15 p.m. that the death of Linda L. Crowe, 39, resulted from "criminal act or criminal neglect." George W. Gedon, county coroner, ordered the rarely used proceedings due to varying accounts of the woman's death. He said he will review the official transcript of the inquest and make a recommenda tion to Distrist Attorney Brett 0. Feese. Feese is not bound by the jury's advisory opinion. IVHilfiMH' J Rutland mall developers sue RUTLAND The developers of a shopping mall in Rutland have filed an antitrust suit against the city and the company that wants to build another mall nearby. In a suit filed in federal court earlier this week, Juster Associates and Juster Development Co. of Yon-kers, N.Y., claimed the developers of a proposed mall on Route 7 conspired with the city to restrain trade by entering an agreement with the city. The city has agreed not to oppose the Route 7 mall during the current Act 250 land use hearings as long as the developers provide downtown Rutland with $10,000 in improvements. 30 Leisure year : Technology 46ReasonsToLive On Our Golf Course 1 - 3.
