Miss Sarah Anna Brown was presented a fine box of candy for being the most popular young lady. J. B. Qilley went to Springfield last week and purchased a fine Overland car. Mr.

Rowe, our Stark City merchant, happened, to a serious accident last week when coming home with a load of goods. His truck caught fire and burned with all the contents. Mr. Rowe was badly burned. Miss Rhea Landreth who Is attending high school in Joplin spent the week end with her parents, Mr.

and Mrs. Oscar Landreth. A. C. McBrlde and Mrs.

Jessie Tilton went to Springfield on the bus The Ozark people certainly made a hit with the south while at Memphis lost week. The Queen of the fair Miss Jewel J. Johnson speaks very complimentary of them in a letter written her cousin Mrs. E. C.

Seamster of Afton, came. Monday night several young people gathered at the J. H. Brown -tome for a Hallowe'en party. The evening was spent in playing games and telling jokes.

Homemade candy was served to twenty people. All parted saying they had an enjoyable evening. STEULA SCHOOL NOTES The Juniors are missing Myrl Murphy from their Clowes. She has been absent from school two weeks on account of Illness. Our best basket ball'game of the season was played heife Saturday night between Purdy and Stella Junior high teams, The home team wdn by a close margin of one point.

It was a good olean game and both teams showed themselves to be real sportsmen. The American Literature class la studying Hawthorne's "Twice Told Tales." The high school classes are planning their banners for Rally Day. Mr. moved his family into the Jenks Flat lost week. A delightful Hallowe'en party was given by the Delta Alpha 'at the home of Ylene Carter Monday night.

The first event of'the evening was a treasure hunt which led the masqueraders through a number of streets and alleys back to the Carter home where the treasure awaited them. Halowe'en stunts and games were played throughout the evening. Thelma Lick was prize for the prettiest costume and Gordon Kenny for keeping his identity the longest. The M. A. wil hold their gular monthly meeting the first Moni day night, Nov. 7 at Hammers school houso, There will be a program and supper and a good time is expected. Clare Woods is building a new house.

It looks like we are going to havc a little oily at the 4-corners yet. Miss Catherine Lelgett, our teacher, and Miss Muriel Johnson, the I teacher at Schonborn, and Miss Imo- 1 gene Cassel of Spurgeon attended the teachers' meeting in Springfield Thursday and Friday. There was serious accident last Sunday morning at the Woods' filling but we hope not fatal. As Roy Hendershot of Neosho and another young man were leaving the station their car ran against a sign post and we suppose the car bounced back and the young man that was with Mr. Hendershot was thrown through the windshield and severely cut about the head and face.
