Good One Commencement week at the North Eastern Ohio Normal College opened auspiciously last Sunday afternoon when Rev Hudnut pastor of tho First Presbyterian churoh of Youngstown pronounood the baccalaureate sermon before the graduating class In College Chapel In anticipation of the occasion no pains had been Bpared In making the spacious obapel present a moat attractive appearance The college colors red and black were artistically draped from the celling while the rostrum was banked with a profusion of plants and flowers A large audlenoe was in attendance many parts of tho county being represented showing that tho people havo a doop interest in the Institution that has done much for the young men and women of this and other localities The graduates occupied front seats In the center of tho hall Tho services opened with a song by the assemblage Rov Burt offered a fervent prayer and a malo quartet composed of Messrs Higglns conviction And when I saw Him glorified I said lI want to be with Thee and that became my salvation There Is nothing In the hereafter but Jesus Christ St Piul aUosald wo are appointed to hear HH voice That is your appointment It speaks In your conscience telling you the thing you are doing is wrong How many broken cooaoleuuenl How many of us have smashed the voice of consolence 1 It is such a delicate and modest Id fluence It can not bear often to bo refused Presently an ignored conscience will withdraw The voice conscience Is the voice of God You can hear It also In tho human cry everywhere Turkey from the butchered Armenian Christians from the missionaries cut down by the Moslems One of my earliest recollections Is that ot the agonized ory of the persecuted Armenians and all through these years thpt cry has beon swept across the worlw Hear It from the 300000000 for which the Presbyterian churoh is responsible You and I aro responsible for 800 men and women each Hear it from the child without God and without hope in the world Hear it from tho cry of the men and women who have come to our Bhores God evidently meant this to be the meeting place of the nations That Is the voice of God and If you do not hear it you will never hear any other voice of His Hoar It from the printed page Why doyou not read ltV Why la tho old fashioned kind of religion going out of stylo When our parents and grand parenta wished to know what to do they road the Bible But now we listen to every other volco rather than this one We aro like tho poo plo at Slnal who said to Mosos Yoj QRADUATINQ CLASS 09 Km dm Jmm First row loft to right Loanna Farmer Ruth Duncan Ethol Dolls Marlon Fowler Second row DoWllt Morgan Ella Rico Scott Wlnans Clnra uors liny arsnul son Morgan and Pars hall sang Rev Rowo read tho scrlpturo lesson and Miss Ruby Chldoster sang a solo Dr Wm Dickson In fitting words Introduced tho speaker Rev Hudnut took his toxt In Acts 2214- And ho said Tho God of our fathers hath chosen thee that thou shouldost know his will and soo that Just One and shouldost hoar tho volco of hie mouth and for blssubjoot Our Dlvlno Appointment In part ho said That was tho appointment ot St Paul Another translation has It Tho God of our Fathers hath appointed you eto It 1b also the appointment ot every Christian What did God make mo forV That is one of tho most Important questions a man can ask Tho answer Is la those words the text I bellove that and I wish you believed it too It makes mo feel better as a man to know that God bath appointed me to know Hla will to see the Just One and to hear a voice from His mouth That la a high appointment We want to know the utmost that God hath required of us Tho Universal appointment la to bo found hero In tho words of tho text It Is a great thing to know tho will of God Many foelithat It 1b impossible to know His wlllr It is reasonable to suppose that thero is some way by which I can find out what that will la He hath also appointed that the flowers should grow and tho birds alng etc etc and I notice that these things come to pass Now thero aro certain things In the will ot God that you are sure of First Your salification You are sure that God oleciB you to be tho best possible man you can be Jesus Christ said Be thou holy bb I am holy St Paul said The will of God even your samlficatlon It Ib the will of God that every ojo of us should be holy Second God wills every man for service We must help every other man to be the best possible man he also oan be If we are not here for that then we all would better not be here at all Goda will la that every man rather than adding to the sum ot human misery and woe should help every other man to be the best be can be The third thing we are sure of is your salvation He would not that any should perlBh but that all should be saved It is the old fashioned doctrine the Perseverance ot the Saints And I believe in It especially in the perseverance The Universal will of God Ib that you be the best man you can be and that you help other men to be the best men that they can be and that you should be saved God hatb appointed you to know His will That muoh we know More is to be revealed Any man who will consistently launoh his life out on these three laws of God will eventually come to know the will ot God He will oome up into the beautiful place where the will of God shall be revealed to him St Paul also uald we are to see the Righteous One This is essential to knowing the will of God No man oan do the will ot God when that will is expressed only in the Ten Commandments I oan not do the will of God till I see that Righteous One A teacher explains some problem to me and I say I see But I dont Bee I perceive You dont see Jesus but you perceive Him And when any man sees Juaus he Is ravished The reason the world does not do His will la because the world does not see Him When a man seea Jesus Christ that is his greatest interest henoeforth He hath appointed us to see the Rlghtous One When mine eye beheld my Lord I cried out I want to be like Thee aad that became my eautiScaVkm When I saw that everywhere BU waat the world became hrlghtar aad happier I said I waat to ye iUi Thand thai beoao my speak to us for wo are afraid It ho should wo would die It took Jesus Christ SO years to loarn tho will of God and whon Bo was Btartlng on hU journeying ministry to tho world Ho eatd I dollght to do Thy will ICuowing tho will ot God Is a matter of development But It you start out to bo holv and to servo tho Lord little by little tho will of God will bo revealed to you and you will know it It seems to mo that as an artist looks abroad over tho world and olosoly scans every fuco and from thla one finds a cortaln characteristic and from this another and so on and at last makes afaco which combines all the best qualities of all ot them and calls tho face that of JesuB so Jo sub gatbors up Into Himself all tho excellencies of humanity If you and I miss this knowing of His will and seeing that Just One and bearing tho volco from His mouth tbon wo miss tho only thing in this world that Is worth whllo living for That is tho greatest thing in human experience apart from which our Christianity Is only an empty form with tho spark of life It is the Divine appointment ot tho will ot God for you and me to know God for you and me to know His will to see that Just One and to hear tho voice from Bla mouth SUNDAY EVENIKO A- large audience turned out to bear the annual address before the College Christian Associations Allan Craig president of tho A presided The services opened
