In the meantime, Fuglaar is awaiting sentencing in U.

S. District Court here in a federal case. He was convicted last Tuesday of income tax evasion and perjury. In state court, as was the case in federal court, Fuglaar is accused of participating in a scheme of issuing false invoices and splitting the money with businessman James Osborne and former Finance Utilities Commissioner LeRoy G. Wilson.

Sentencing in federal court isn't expected to take place for a month or so. Gravel has filed a motion for a new trial and if it is denied by Judge Nauman Scott he intends to appeal the conviction to the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals. Fuglaar was among 10 city officials and employes indicted by a state grand jury in the spring of 1969 following a special City Hall investigation. He was later indicted on the federal charges. an, iii WxJmjI 1 1 AN-f if for emergency operations to handle the Irish capital's worst flooding in 10 years.

The main impact of the storm struck both East and West Germany, Britain, Ireland, the Netherlands, Belgium and France. At least 54 persons in the six countries were killed in weather-related accidents Monday, police said, while scores of others were injured by flying debris propelled in some places by winds as high as 135 miles an hour. West German police put the death toll there at 29. The East German news agency said 12 persons there died with thousands more injured as 130 mph winds ripped roofs away, smashed brick, walls and uprooted trees. "The devil is loose," a spokesman for the West Ger man fire department said.

West German insurance agencies said damage there would run into the millions of dollars. Two men died in a rain-caused car accident near Brighton and a Canadian tourist, Mrs. Phyllis Davidson, 43, of Ontario, was killed by a falling chimney stack in Southsea, police said. In Dublin, officials called share of road funds. Ward 1 juror Brian Duke said this might be contrary to the unit system concept where all the gasoline tax money returned to the jury from the state is pooled to be used throughout the parish.

Ward 10 juror Charles Stewart said it boiled down to whether the jurors trusted the parish engineer to properly assign crews to work throughout the parish, where they are most needed. Authorities were led to the woman's body by an escaped convict who used Willett's name and papers to get free on bail after he and a partner were arrested for a Stockton liquor store holdup two weeks ago. Miss Fromme and Miss Pitman spent months in a vigil outside a Los Angeles courthouse during the trial of Manson and three women cult followers for the "thrill" slay-ings of actress Sharon Tate and six others. (Town Talk Staff Writer) The Finance Committee of the Rapides Parish Police Jury was a forum for a variety of matters facing the jury, perhaps indicating that money lies close to the root of most of the body's problems. It was disclosed at the meeting that the U.

S. Forest Service will move to close the Ward 1 dump on Twin Bridges Road in mid-1973. The forest service officials stated in a letter that this type of garbage operation will not be allowed any longer. This will force the jury to move to a landfill site by that time. It also forces the jury to dig up the subject again and search for a landfill to serve the entire parish.

The Rapides Parish Sanitation Board, throughh the planning commission, has issued a call for suggestions on possible landfill sites. The jury has been mulling over a corollary proposal to use metal dumpsters throughout the parish along the roads. The city of Alexandria was forced to find a site which has proved unsuitable when it could not use the Ward 1 dump earlier this year. In financial matters, the that the 1973 budget included an allowance for an across-the-board 5.5 percent pay raise for all employees. This does not mean, however, that the raise will take that form, only that this much is allowed in the budget.

Chairman Gene Dunn called for a special meeting of the Finance Committee to discuss priorities for spending the $1,192,000 in revenue sharing funds the jury will receive in December. Leverne Perry, jury president, suggested that the Finance Committee should be the group to assign the priorities for the jury. To Be Announced The time of the meeting will be announced later this month. A resolution was passed by the committee to allow hiring a supervisor for District those wards east of Red River in Rapides Parish, to coordinate the crews in these three wards. The request was made by Ward 10 juror Dr.

John Jones who also requested that the jury purchase a radio for the supervisor's truck. This is an interim measure, HOMEOWNERS LOANS TO $10,000 'AVCO FINANCIAL SERVICES "Yte believe inpy. Under this plan there will be a parish-wide road superintendent, with two assistant superintendents, one each for the east and west sides of the river. Wards 1 and 8 now have such a district supervisor as was requested by Jones. Discussion on the pay raises for the parish employes centered around whether an across-the-board percentage raise should be given or if a flat dollar raise should be given. Gene Dunn said that the percentage raise would increase the distance between the high paying jobs and the lower paying positions. "We are trying to help the lower paid employes meet cost of living increases," Dunn said.

Several Variations In the past, several variations have been used, according to the jury secretary-treasurer Geraldine Gerami. The percentage raise has been accompanied by stipulations that raise be no less than a certain dollar amount, Mrs. Gerami said. Jones also requested that a breakdown of the funds from the gasoline tax in the wards be made available to give an indication of whether the wards are getting their fair 7:00 P.M -J1J1 on, 0.: on MM, sears Parking mmhAh df pus Lot in a Big Red Fire Engine FREE Candy for all You Kids JIVm' FINANCING! leaf Rigs Trailer mnd Campari Autot-NawUMd THRILL YOUR CHILD with a letter from Santa!
