"Coaching is an outlet, exercise for me," says Dr. Jones who was in Baton Rouge Friday when the State Board of Education renewed his two jobs at the predominantly black school in north Louisiana for fiscal 1971-72.

Retirement Age Jones is 65, the mandatory retirement age, and board action was necessary for him to continue on the job at Grambling. Jones said that his age, his administrative position and his smiling, friendly disposition don't cause much critical comment from students who may think of him as "the establishment" or an "Uncle Tom."
