Burial will bein the Consolota Cemetery. He died Monday in a New Orleans hospital. Delma Addison and Mrs. Mary Tramonte, both of Lake MINDEN Mrs. Ella Mae England, 71, died in a Shreveport hospital Monday following a short illness. Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p.m. today in the Green Kleinegger Funeral Home.

Burial will be in the Sibley Cemetery. Survivors are two daughters, Mrs. Arthur Bagley of Shreveport, Mrs. Walter Evans of Sibley: two sisters, Mrs. J.

Amis, 89, died Tuesday in a local hospital following a lengthy illness. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today in the First Methodist Church. C. Amis of Dallas: one sister, Mrs. W. C. Caudle of Lindale; and four grandchildren, Alba B.

Alford SHELBYVILLE, Tex. Funeral services for Alba B. Alford, 80, will be held at 2 p.m. today in the Bartle Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Rather Cemetery.

He died Tuesday in a Center hospital following a short illness. Survivors are his sidow; one daughter, Mrs. Homer of Houston, one son, Royce Alford of Shelbyville; two sisters, Mrs. Vera Swancy and Mrs. Hartzel Beck, both of Shelbyville; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

NEA May Launch Drive On Carswell WASHINGTON (UPI) -The prospect of more weeks of uncertainty for Judge Harrold Carswell and more formal opposition to his Supreme Court nomination appeared almost certain Tuesday. National Education Association source said Tuesday the 1.1 million member organization of educators which opposed the nomination of Judge Clement Haynsworth also would come out against Carswell. "Actually, I think our case is stronger this time," the source said. The NEA announcement. expected later this week, reportedly will criticize Carswell for an undistinguished record as a judge and for "continual attempts to slow desegregation in the South" with his court decisions.

Sen. Fred Harris, in a Senate speech Tuesday, repeated his announced tion to the Craswell nomination. Democratic Leader Mike Mansfield also indicated Tuesday that the vote on confirmation probably won't occur for at least another two weeks. He said that unless there is unanimous consent to move the Carswell consideration ahead, the vote would have to wait until consideration of the voting rights legislation. Mansfield said, "Voting rights will come first' if the voting rights bill is on the calendar as agreed to and no extension is The Senate already has agreed to take up the bill to extend the 1964 voting rights law on March 2.

Even if moved ahead of the voting rights bill, the Carswell nomination could stili not be taken up much before Feb. 27., Mansfield said he would not be averse to a short extension on the voting rights bill but extending the March March 2 since 1 the deadline 1st is on a Sunday would have to approval of all senators." City Court Sentences 2 To 6 Months Conviction on charges of theft brought six-months jail sentences to two persons in City Court Tuesday, Hattie Willis, 19, whose address was listed as the Sprague Street Hotel, sentenced to six months on theft charges.

She is to. serve nine days of the sentence, with the balance to suspended, and she will be placed on probation for two years. Theft by check charges against Kathleen J. Raybold, 25, of 3402 Valleyview, brought a six month jail sentence. Ans earlier sentence of 91 days, which was peviously suspended, was invoked and the time is to be served after the other sentence.

In other action, George, Ellis address listed 2, Box 95 Shreveport, was fined $250 or 50 days in jail and 10 days in jail, the sentence to be suspended for one year if the fine is paid, on a count of careless and reckless driving and driving while intoxicated. Observance Set In Dribble Drive A 100-hour observance is planned for 10 a.m. Friday in the 110-hour marathon basketball dribble, "Bounce for BeatsBucks for Heart," conducted by the Zeta Chi chapter of Alpha Phi Omega, national service fraternity, at Centenary College. Ice Causes 8-Car Crash In Alexandria ALEXANDRIA An eight-car pile up on an icy traffic bridge here Tuesday killed John Brown, 74, of Lecompte. Brown was a passenger in a car driven by Richard Deal, 19, also of Lecompte.

Several other persons were injured, at least two seriously. According to police, a city truck was spreading salt on the bridge and was hit in the rear by an automobile. The chain reaction caught six other vehicles. Funeral arrangements for Brown are pending. Harrisonburg To Operate New System Times News Service HARRISONBURG An agreement with the village of Harrisonburg to operate and service the Sandy Lake Water System was signed by David I.

The agreement is for Harrisonbug to operate and maintain, read water meters, bill customers, collect water receipts and deposit in the Sandy Lake Water System account, answer calls, inspect the water tanks and supplies of the system and repair minor leaks. Jordan said the commission needed a budget of at least $35,000 and all but $10,000 would have to be donated.

The city of Alexandria and the Rapides Parish Police Jury each contribjutes $5,000 a year. If the commission dies, Jordan said, what convention activities that would be done would be up to the chamber of commerce.
