The vacation spirit is in the air. Those who are fortunate enough to be able to spend the summer out of tozun are enjoying themselves at their chosen seaside, mountain or country resorts. Of those who can only get away for a week or so, a large number have taken this particular period to do it in, many others have had their trips and for them vacation will only be a memory for another year, while the rest are either about to start or are full of plans for their annual period of sightseeing or rest. All of which leads up to the obvious remark that social activity, save for picnics, river and bay trips and other outings of the kind, is almost or quite suspended. Club Plans Entertainments gmi "'I jfci- THE Recreation Pleasure Club, 107 North Montford avenue, held its first annual bus party on Sunday, at the Eloise Pleasure Shore, Bear creek.

The bus was decorated with the club's colors, black and yellow, and a profusion of Japanese lanterns. The day was spent in different sports, but boating and bathing were the main factors. Toward evening the dancing pavilion was popular, Stroh's orchestra rendering selections. The affair proved a success, owing to the diligent work of the chairman, Mr. Charles Hinkel, and his assistants, Amos Birchs-baum, Chester Fretwell and William Sachs.

C. II. Docker, Out In The Suburbs Knights Give Picnic. THE Knights of St. Francis held their annual picnic at the Sacred Heart Church grounds, Foster avenue and First street, Monday evening.

and Mrs. Thomas II. Welsh. Dr. Randolph Latimer, of Baltimore, a prominent worker among the blind of Maryland, is spending the summer with his parents, Mr.

and Mrs. Thomas Latimer. Mr. R. Clagett, of Upper Marlboro, has been visiting friends in Bladensburg and vicinity.

Miss Marie Columbia Watkins and, Mr. Albert Vandebilt Felter, both of West Rlverdale, Prince George's county, sprang a surprise by going to Washington Wednesday evening, ostensibly for a choir rehearsal, but in reality to get married. The knot was tied by Rev. C. H.

Butler, pastor of the Lutheran Church, and the young couple returned to Riverdale, leaving later for a trip of several weeks in the North. Miss Sniegoskie, of Washington, attended the bride, who was attired in lavender silk with erystal trimmings. Mr. and Mrs. Clarence T.

Young have returned to their home In Cambriuge after a stay with friends in Brentwood. Mrs. Laura Howard, of Ealtimore, has returned after a visit to Mrs. Joseph R. Owens.

Mrs. Owens recently returned from London, where she spent several months with a daughter. Messrs. H. W.

Dorsey and W. D. Porter have returned from a fishing trip near Front Royal, Va. 4- Motoring In The Mountains. Miss Frick, of Baltimore, is motoring through the mountains with Mrs.

Herbert James, of Boston, and they are at present at Balsams, Dixvllle Notch, following a visit to Bretton Woods. Mr. and Mrs. A. H.

Shriver, of Baltimore, are continuing their motor explorations of the White Mountain resorts. Manoir Richlieu, at Murray Bay, the former summer home of President Taft, entertained a party consisting of Miss Elsie B. Miller, Miss Allison J. Miller, S. Bevan Miller and Paul H.

Miller. They will also visit Tadousac and the Saguenay before returning home. JACKSON Square English Lutheran Sunday-School held its annual outing nt Avondalo Wednesday. Special cars conveyed the guests, and upon their arrival at the shore breakfast was served. The scholars took part In various athletic games.

Those of the primary department held their games in the morning, while the entire school took part in the games in the afternoon. Handicaps, however, were allowed the small boys who competed against the older ones. Running races, boat races and sack races were on Social Time AT the Second Congregational Church, Rev. William J. Richards pastor, an important meeting of the Young People's Society was held In conjunction with the Ladles' Aid Society to settle the details of tho late concert and carnival After the business session the social part of the evening was entered upon.

Such games as Troverbs and Ruth and Jacob were played, and piano solors and duets were given by Misses Bertha Busch-er and Margaret Leyshon. Recitations were also given by members of the Young People's Society. Refreshments were erved. Mr. and Mrs.

Professor Frank's Band was in attendance and rendered delightful music. The committee was composed of Messrs. Peter Tworstr (chairman), Albert Bauer, Joseph Mushburger, Joseph Loeffler, John AndOn and Michael Smile. the program, while the pie-eating contests and the spoon races caused much laughter. The most interest centered around the baseball game between the Junior Young People's Society and the Senior Young People's Society.

At noon dinner was served to all the guests. The woods proved a great attraction during the heat of the day. A large crowd remained at the shore until a late hour. The committee In charge of the arrangements consisted of Messrs. Charles Foster and Philip Treide.

Haynes has returned from Atlantic City. Miss Ryan Honored. On Sunday evening a delightful party was given at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Gehrlng, 1005 East Hoffman street, in honor of their charming guest, Miss Bertha Ryan, of Taunton, Mass.

The parlor and dining room were artistically decorated, and refreshments wpre served at a late hour. The evening was spent in games, recitations, singing and music by the National Glee Club. Miss Dushman will go to Atlantic City about the first of the month. Miss Carrye Segress, 1826 East Bank street, who has been visiting Chesapeake Beach, has returned home. Miss Mary Brummer and Miss Mary Campbell sailed from New York last Thurs day on the Prinz Friedrich Wllhelm. They will visit all the fashion centres of Europe and will spend some time at the lace industries of Switzerland. They will return to Baltimore in the early fall.
