Wilson as federal patronage referee for Mississippi was the recommendation of the appointment of Mr. arl V. Miller as postmaster at Raymond, county seat of tha second district of Hinds county, to succeed George C. Granberry, a negro, who tendered his resignation to the department, effective on the 1st of June. The Hinds county board of supervisors convened In regular monthly session at the court house this morning with all members present.

The most important action taken was the adoption of a resolution declaring a bond issue in the sum of $118,000 to be used in refunding an issue now outstanding. The old issue is in the sum of $18,000, bearing interest at the rate of six per cent. Mayor's Answer To Report of Violation of Ordinance. Mayor Wharton today addressed th following letter to President R. E. The cotton growers themselves have been working towards this end, but a power greater than the growers themselves has taken a hand in the situation and has decreed that there must not be as much cotton planted this" year as last. Nature has come to the assistance of the cotton farmers and it is now impossible for them to plant as much cotton as they planted last year. Of course theer is going to be a reduction on the part of the farmers themselves, but the reduction forced ou the farmers will be as great as the voluntary reduction.
