She is active in politics and is still concerned with P.T.A., committee work in education, with her sorority, and maintains an interest in Felts Elementary School, where she retired last year as principal after 30 years.

Alpha Mae taught school and went to University of Mexico and later attended Eastern University and graduated with a B.A. degree, and the U.K. where she received her M.A. She recieved her M.A. without going to school a complete year doing it by teaching a semester, going to school a semester, summer school, night courses and Saturday classes.

This is only one example of her drive. Her complete teaching career spans 42 years. She and Russell Stansberry, retired groceryman, have four children and eight grandchildren. These young people hold her in great love, respect and admiration. Alpha Mae is a dedicated member of the First Baptist Church where she is a Sunday School teacher, chairman of coordination committee for kindergarten, and a member of W.M.U.

Alpha Mae has many distinctions, but to mention two will have to suffice for the present. She had the honor of being named the first "Mother of the Year" in Corbin.
