The difficulty of placing securities has tended to retard railway extensions somewhat aud new contracts for steel rails are not coming to the mills as rapidly as iu ihe closing months of last year, but the tonnage already on the oooks will take nil the output for many months. 8. Passed down, stmr Wagner, after whom the place is named, started a packing house there it consisted mostly of fishing shores and boat houses. At the mouth of the Patapsco river and Curtis Bay, and only a mile from the Chesapeake, the point affords excellent shipping facilities. With keen foresight Mr. Wagner, who was then engaged in the packing business in East Baltimore, started the plant which is now one of the largest and best equipped in Maryland.

With the improvements came more workmen. The town was then surveyed, laid off into sections, and pretty cottages and straight, well-paved streets and pavements mow occupy the site, and more are being built. There are now in all nearly 150 dwellings, occupied for the most part by workmen employed by the Martin Wagner Company. Up-to-date sanitary arrangements are provided. The streets running north and south are numbered.

Those running east and west are named Centre. South street and Korth avenue. Nearly all of the inhabitants are hard-working, quiet, thrifty Poles. Their only police protection comes from Brooklyn. A patrolman visits the town once a day.

-walks through the principal streets, greets friends and goes back again. In the past two months it is said there has only been one arrest. Modern electric equipment was Installed two years ago, illuminating the streets. The Ellis Asphalt Company is completing a plant to cost from $50,000 to $70,000. The Martin W'agner Company has offered Cardinal Oibbons a site upon which to erect a church and will give $1,000 toward the building.

Several church edifices are projected. The Presbyterians meet in a hall over theengine house. Itev. J. T.

Yaegle, of Brooklyn, has charge of the work. The need of a church will be discussed at a meeting Thursday night. It is expected that committees will be appointed to solicit subscriptions. The volunteer Are department, whlchis well drilled, has its headquarters in the center of the town. Mr.

Frederick A. Roder, proprietor of the general store, says the people are prosperous and happy. "This town is building up rapidly," ne continued. "It will not bo long before we will be conspelledtS incorporate it. This little town, in my estimation, is one of the liveliest villages in the State of Maryland.

We don't stop at accomplishing things half way. When we start anything, we generally finish it." HOSPITAL TRUSTEES ACCEPT Will Consult Marburg Heirs As To Alternative Conditions.
