Top awards Bass honors pupils Two E. E. Bass Junior High School ninth graders were named the school's best all-around boy and girl during an awards day ceremony recently. They are Stephen Daniels, son of George Daniels Sr. of 1021 Caldwell Drive, and Mary Ann White, daughter of Mr.

and Mrs. Ernest White of 444 Sunflower. Daniels also received the American Legion Citizenship Award for a boy student and a monitor's award. Miss White received the American Legion Citizenship Award for a girl student, a school citizenship award and a monitor's award. Other awards presented to ninth grade students were: Monitor's awards, I la Barnes, Miss Cates, Stephen Daniels, Barbara Dyson, Linda Ferguson, Science award, Elizabeth Cates.

E. E. Triplet! Award in English, Miss Cates. National Educational Development Test, Kenneth Rankins, recognition of- superior performance locally; Miss Cates, recognition of superior performance nationally. DAR Citizenship Award, Johnny Joiner for boy student; Sherri Mathews, for girl student.

Optimist Club Award for participation in an oratorical contest, Herman Hicks. French Awards, Ma Barnes, Linda Smith, Kenneth Ranklins, Miss Cates and Debra Wells. Home economics award. Ruby Tatum, most outstanding student; Margie most improved ability and attitude in clothing textile- and Nellie Hicks, outside reading in home economics. Industrial arts awards, Kenneth Page, highest scholastic average; Johnny Joiner, most improved; and Calvin Loving, hardest worker.

Physical education awards, Martha Smith and Ronnie Breaxaus. Girls expression awards, Sharrlon Jackson, first place; Barbara Brooks, second place; Christ! Bogan, third place; and Janet Blrt, fourth place. School scholarship award, I la Barnes, Miss Cates, Phyllis Kelly, Kenneth Rankins and Debra Wells. School citizenship awards, I la Barnes, James Childs, Curtis Diggins, Terry Fleming, Herman Hicks, Nellie Hicks, Tracy Holmes, Mattle Johnson, Carrie Levison, Cornelius Louis, Sylvester Miller, Willie Mosley, Martha Nix, Kenneth Rankins, Audra Mae Ross, Linda Smith, Lovle Thomas, Clementine Walker, Mary Ann White, John Henry Williams and Sandra Williams. Industrial arts awards, David Allen, highest scholastic average; Cannon Jackson, Most improved. Boys spelling bee, Carl Baker, first piace; Marvin Jackson, second place; and Edward Jackson, third place. Girls spelling bee, Janet Birt, first place, Joyce Dickens, second place; and Sharron Tillmon, third place. School scholarship awards, David Allen, Lisa Cox, Dan Lew, Belinda Williams and Iris Yelldell. School citizenship awards, Janet Blrt, Barbara Brooks, Barbarais, Edward Jackson, Margaret Campus i Burrow brothers honored Todd Burrow and Bill Burrow have been named to membership in Alpha Omega Alpha, national honor medical society.

Both University of Mississippi School of Medicine 'seniors, they were tapped for the prestigious honorary on Medical Center honors day. The Burrow brothers are the sons of Dr, and Mrs. William H. Burrow of 1113 Cfoverdale. Bill Burrow received a book award on honors day.

Recipients are selected on the basis of academic achievement. Pam Vest Bill Burrow Special Todd Burrow Special Special Pam Vest initiated UNIVERISTY (Special )-Pam Vest of Greenville was recently initiated into Phi Kappa Phi, national scholastic honor fraternity, at the University of Mississippi. To attain the honor, Miss Vest had to maintain a minimum of a 3.5 average on a 4.0 scale on all work attempted. She also had to meet certain residence requirements. Sybil McCraney honored I I i a --A Greenvillian is one of three University of Mississippi journalism students selected as 1973 winners of the Mississippi Power Light Co.

Advertising Awards. She is Sybil McCraney, a former Delta Democrat-Times summer reporter. Janous joins IBM 7 Susie Alexander graduates FULTON, Mo. (Special )-Susie Allan Alexander was awarded the bachelor of arts degree by William Woods College during the commencement exercises held on May 12 in Fulton. Miss Alexander graduated cum laude.

Miss Alexander is the daughter of Mrs. Charlotte Jolley Alexander, Bayou Road, Greenville, Miss. Among her activities at William Woods, she is a member of Chi Omega Social Sorority, Alumni Board, and was chairman for the Alumnae Weekend Committee. She has been named to both the Dean's List and the Achievement List. Don Janous, son of Mr.

and Mrs. Frank Janous of 1121 Cloverdale Drive, has accepted a position with IBM Corporation in Jackson following his recent graduation from Mississippi State University. Janous received a degree in business and industry in recent commencement exercises. Janous was named to Who's Who Among Students in American Colleges and Universities and Who's Who Among Greek Fraternities and Sororities.
