With the forecast and system which distinguishes England's statesmanship, we find her preparing the sort of force best suited to drive home the wedge when it shall be found expedient. We find the following fact in a cotemporary, which speaks for itself "Since the emancipation of the slaves in the West Indies, negroes in slave ship are enlisted in the British service, and black regiments are formed of soldiers enrolled for life. These, with other incidents, form subjects for reflection even to those who wish to see slavery suppiessed in this country. It is a question of universal national interest, and premature philanthropy should ponder it well."
