Hubbard made the comment as he expressed anger with the school's athletic council, which refused a request earlier this year to enter the NCAA's Division which includes stronger football powers. Hubbard, whose team upset highly ranked Tennessee State last weekend 31-28, said actions by the athletic council may have cost the school $200,000 in possible post-season television and bowl revenues.

The council, said Hubbard, chose not to take part in Division II rankings to stay above maximum schof-arship revenues allowed for the classification. Bowl scouts, he said, are only in terested in Division 1 teams. "We're just not getting the recognition we need," said Hubbard, whose team is 6-0. "We just might have one of the best teams in the country. I'm qualified to say that because I've been at the Big 10 level (as a player and coach at Ohio State) and I've seen the Big 8." Hubbard said going into Division II playoffs might be more prestigious and beneficial for the Rattler athletic program than the Orange Blossom Classic.

1 Florida hosts the annual classic, slated for Dec. 10, in Miami's Orange Bowl. An opponent has not been named yet. He said some Florida alumni might object to dropping the classic because of traditional loyalties to the game and denying South Florida graduates of the school a chance to see the team. Florida officials, he said, are "still kicking around" the idea of dropping the classic.

The Phillies' Davey Johnson, who has played in other such exotic (well, at least erotic) places as Baltimore; Atlanta and Tokyo, is the answer to a baseball trivia question: Who is the only player to have been teammates with the two men (Hank Aaron and Sadarahu Oh) who broke Babe Ruth's career home run record? Johnson was on Oh's team in Japan and Aaron's in Atlanta.

Before that claim to fame, Johnson's trivia was limited to being the last player to get a hit off of Sandy Koufax. Caldwell Jones of the Philadelphia 76ers was asked the biggest thrill of his life. Are you ready for this? "I was never more happy than the day they expanded "The Flintstones" from a half hour to an hour. Wow! Fred and Barney for 60 minutes!" From Pro basketball, in case you haven't noticed yet, is under way. An interesting situation to watch this season will be the possible resurgence of the Milwaukee Bucks, a league doormat last season.

The Bucks obtained, via the college draft, three of the best collegians around Indiana's Kent Benson, UCLA's Marques Johnson and Tennessee's Ernie Grunfeld. That could turn a franchise around quicker than a George Steinbr-enner checkbook. And my favorite quote of the college football season comes from Villanova Coach Dick Bedesem, whose team has been plagued with fumbles: "We've had so many fumbles, we've hired a fumble hnP.A,""E IE "laced on ESS lon bv lne National Intercollegiate Atheletlcs for violating the organization's code of conduct.
