m. Annie Barksdale Oden. She was married to Mr. Rush in 1896, and lived in Ray ville until 1896 when they moved to Alexandria. Mr.

Rush preceded her in death three years. He was an employee of the Town Talk for many years. Mrs. Rush was a devout member of the Emmanuel Baptist Church and was very active in church work until her recent illness. She is survived by one son, Harmon J.

Rush, of Alexandria, and one daughter, Mrs. Bingham C. Stewart of New Orleans, and one grandson, Harmon J. Rush, of Alexandria. The funeral service was held Tuesday, Nov.

4, 1947 at 11 a. m. in the Hixson Bros, chapel with Rev. Franklin M. Segler officiating.

Wright, at a beautiful ceremony held at the old Bayou Rouge Baptist church at Evergreen at 5 o'clock, Saturday afternoon, Oct. 25. Rev. D. A.

Youngblood officiated. During the candle lighting Miss Darris Beard sang "Because" and "Always" accompanied by Miss Lela May Nash. The bride, given in marriage by her uncle, Mr. Dan Brunson, wore a wedding gown of satin worn with a long train and a fingertip veU of illusion, held with a tiera of seed pears. Her bouquet of lillies of the valley was centered with a single white He maid of honor, Miss Dorothy Scott of Houston, wore American beauty taffeta and carried pink carnations.

The bridesmaids, Miss Geraldine Goodloe of Lake Charles and Mrs. Ralph Couvillion of Bunkie, wore taffeta gowns made on identical lines. Both wore pink plumes in their hair and carried bouquets of white carnations tied with pink streamers. Mr. John Jeter Wright, brother of the groom, served as best man.

Groomsmen were Messrs. Clay Wright and Eoyd Quirk. Messrs. William and Robert Wright were ushers. Following the ceremony a reception was held at the home of Mr.

and Mrs. J. S. Wright of Evergreen Mrs. James McNamara and Mrs.

Furlong, Shreve-port, told state police here yesterday that she lost a lady's brown suitcase containing some clothing, a compact and between $75 and $100 between Bunkie and Baton Rouge before noon. Charity Hospital reported the treatment of two patients, both negroes, and both of whom were discharged after treatment. Frank Jones ,37, of Pineville, suffered a laceration of the right leg, sustained while chopping wood.

Earl Moore, 38, of 2606 Wise street, had a laceration of the scalp and bruises of both eyes. A car stolen Wednesday night from Veterans hospital was recovered about 9 p. m. yesterday by Sheriff's Deputies Lee Smith and Marshall Cappel. The car was in running condition when foflnd, Sheriff Grady L.

In his speech Mr. Ducote said the Future Farmers of America trains boys for leadership and good citizenship. There were fourteen from the Hessmer chapter elevated to the degree of chapter farmer, Reave Laborde, Huron Ponthier, Oris Gremillion, Laniel Dauzat.

After the ceremonies the Ever green chapter entertained with, refreshments. Soft drinks and hamburgers were served. Plans were made to make this annual affair with Hessmer being nost next year. This meeting was made especially "to practice brotherhood, honor rural opportunities and responsibilities and to develop those qualities of leadership which a Future Farmer should possess." St.

Anthony 4-11 Jaik-o-lanterns, witches, gob lins, and black cats peeped from every coiner of the hall as the St. Anthony Junior 4-H club members enjoyed a delightful Halloween party on the afternoon of Friday, October 31. The long tables were beautifully decorated in orange streamers, Halloween cutouts, and autumn berries. Hal loween cut-outs also lined the wall and streamers were draped from the windows. The table holding the prizes was centered with a huge jack-o-lantern surrounded by autumn berries.

Those in charge of the decorations weie Rosalie Farrino, Bernadette Kojis, Florence Moreau, and Gail Bordelon. Bingo games furnished the main entertainment. During the course of the afternoon a Halloween playlet was presented by the fourth graders. Lafareue High School's 4-H Club The Lafargue high school's 4-H club held its second monthly meeting for this term recently in the school's auditorium After the meeting was called to order by the president, the peldge of allegiance was said and the "Star Spangled Banner" sung to the accompaniment of Alaine Saves, who played the piano. The secretary gave a report on the minutes of the last meeting which were approved by the club. Club members re-elected two club officers. Miss Dugais helped the group to select early projects and to score their health books. Arrangements were made for the next meeting.

Stewards of Lecompte Methodist Church Entertained at Supper Friday night, October 31, the newly elected stewards and their wives were guests of their pastor. Rev. Clyde T. Shaw, at a chicken supper. Reports were made upon the successful year completed by the board, and the opportunities for service in the new conference year.

Special guests were Claudia Roby; Miss Kathleen Ray, who is to represent the Lecompte Mem odist church at the Methodist youth rally which is to be held at Cincinnati, Ohio, December 31; Dr. and Mrs. C. D. Atkinson, hon or guests; and Mr.

and Mrs. Wade Jones. Mr. and Mrs. W.

H. A. club of the Mo reauville high school held its second meeting of the semester in the home economics building. The meeting was called to order by Lcona Bordelon, president. A committee composed of Rosetta Lcmoine, Ruby Rita Gauthier, Sylvia Joffrion and Irene St.

Ro-main was appointed to make plans for a mother-daughter tea to be given during national F. H. A. week. The club selected a club mother, Mrs.

Sidney Joffrion. An entry in the national club song contest was discussed, after which the meeting was adjourned. Evergreen, Hessmer FFA Meeting The Evergreen and Hessmer chapters of the Future Farmers of America met for a joint Chapter Farmer initiation at Evergreen Tuesday, Oct. 28 at 6:30 p. m.

The officers from the two chapters opened the ceremonies with the regular meeting and then proceeded with the initiation. The officers who presided were Norris Riche, president; Claudie Allbrit-ton, vice president; Clarence Clopton, treasurer; Cris Gremillion, secretary; John Bordelon, reporter, and Mr. C. J. Robin, advisor.

After the opening ceremonies the secretaries read the roll of members. There were 62 members present, consisting of the two chapters. The secretaries read the roll of the Greenhands to be raised to the degree of Chapter Farmers. The president then proceeded with the regular ceremonies by asking for a motion to that effect. The motion was made and carried.

The ceremonies were carried out and 25 members were raised to this Chapter Farmer degree. The members were presented with membership cards and the silver iff Si-! r.
