authority to accept registrations of men after they turn 26. Men who failed to register will have permanently forfeited their right to certain federal student-aid and job-training benefits, as well as federal employment. Additionally, registration with Selective Service is a requirement in some states for various employment opportunities, such as law-enforcement agencies and permission to practice law. Men born in 1960 who have registered will reach age 26 in 1986 and. under present law, will no longer be eligible for selection for induction.

Over 15 million men 18 through 25 have registered with Selective Service since President Carter initiated registration in 1980. Men 18 to 25 who have not yet registered should registetpromptly to avoid prosecution andor loss of benefits, a spokesman said. Registration takes only five minutes at any post office. Failure to register is a felony, punishable by a fine of up to $250,000 andor up to five years imprisonment. BCHS Student Makes Cassette Tape Of Christian Songs Shelly Mendell, a senior at Browns-town Central High School, has recently completed a cassette tape recording of six Christian songs.

One of five daughters of Jack and Marge Mendell, Freetown Rt. .1, Shelly plans on a singing career. She has participated in swing choir, student council, and musicals at school. She is a member of the National Honor Society. Spanish Qub and Lettermen's Gub.

and has played on the basketball, volleyball, and cross-country teams. Instrumental background music for the cassette, which was made at a Columbus recording studio, was provided by Shelly's mother on the piano. Danny Dritt on lead guitar. Scott Lewellen on bass guitar, Kurt Turner on synthesizer, and Greg Hercamp on drums, with vocal background music by Fay Abell and Kelly Stidd. The tape is entitled "Down in My Heart." 'Voice Of Praise' To Sing Sunday At First Baptist A musical, "Cradle the King with Praise," will be presented by the Voice of Praise of the Seymour First Baptist Church at 7:30 p.m.

Sunday, Dec. 8. The musical, arranged by Camp Kirkland, features music by Steve Adams, Denny Dawson, and Camp Kirkland. Telling of Christ's coming, its purpose and potential, the choir will sing accompanied by recorded orchestral music. The soloists for the evening will be Jim Carter, Ervih and Pat DeWitt.

7) SEARCH UNDERWAY FOR HANDICAPPED CHILDREN According to the Federal Law 94-142. a search must be made each year to locate handicapped children between the ages of 0 and 21 who are not presently in school. These children are entitled to an appropriate, free, public education. The children need to be located, so they can be evaluated and placed in appropriate special education classes or be given the proper services. The local search is throughout the Joint Services area, including North Lawrence.

Mitchell. Orleans. Brownstown. Shoals, and Carr Township School Corporations. This search is under the direction of Mrs.

Barbara Mille-Director of Special Education. Under the Mandatory Special Education Act. the following services are offered: Classes for Mildly Mentally Handicapped (MMH). Moderately Mentally Handicapped (MoMH). SevereProfoundly Mentally Handicapped (SPR).

Multiply Handicapped (MH). Hearing Impaired (HI), and DeafBlind; services or classes for Learning Disabilities; services or classes "for Emotionally Disturbed; services for Physically Handicapped and Blind; Psychometric services: Speech Therapy; and Physical Therapy. The Orange. Lawrence. Jackson.

Martin Joint Services Area furnishes all of these services with the exception of classes for the blind in this area. These students should attend the Indiana School for the Blind at Indianapolis. Anderson, minister of music and associate pastor. In the morning, the Sunday School hour will begin at 9 a.m., with morning worship at 10 a.m.

The pastor, Dr. Stewart H. Silver, will preach on "The, Light of Advent." Children's church is also conducted during the worship hour, and nursery services are available for all services of the day. Dr. Silver has extended an invitation to the public to attend any services.
