Robert Stasscn, the Republican candidate for state treasurer, Tuesday chided the Minnesota AFI--CIO for endorsing DFL candidates before a Republican slate was even named for state offices. In a letter to President David Roe of the Stassen asked labor leaders for a chance to seek endorsement and asked that the labor sup- port for be rescinded.

"If the labor movement is really interested in working for the best possible government in Minnesota, I respectfully sug- gest that the candidates from at least the two major parties be compared," Stassen said in the letter. The top 33 leaders of the AFL- CIO met in Brainerd last weekend and endorsed all six members of the DFL slate for state offices. The Republican slate was not completed until Saturday at the State GOP Con- vention in Duluth. Among those backed by labor was state Sen. James Lord, 25, Chanhassen, the DFL can- didate for state treasurer.

Lord is the youngest candidate on either slate. Stassen, 46, also a state sena- tor, asked labor leaders to con- sider his 23 years of experience in business and management. "In the spirit of your own ap- prenticeship program, some background and experience should be required of a person before nearly 2 billion dollars are turned over to him for han- (First Publication ADVERTISEMENT FOR BIOS Sealed will be received DY the City Co-jncil of me City ol Elirabelh, Min- nesota.al Ihe Hire Hail in said City for the construcTjcri of A WATER DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM. 4 PUMP HOUSE DEEP WELL AND WATER A A I TANK! u-llil 7:00 P.M. Stassen was endorsed by the Teamsters Union in 1972, win- ning in a district considered heavily DFL. Stassen said his Senate voting record was 89 per cent in accord with a scorecard kept by organized labor. Most of the top Republican candidates were scheduled to appear at a news conference to- day to again repudiate a plank in the GOP platform.

The plank calls on the legisla- ture to rescind its 1973 approval of the Equal Rights Amend- ment. The endorsed candidates had taken a stand against such a plank at the Duluth con- vention, but delegates ap- proved it anyway. Stassen said he will resign by Aug. 1 as treasurer of the Min- nesota Republican party. He was endorsed by the GOP after veteran State Treasurer Val Bjornson declined to seek a 10th term because of illness.

Roe was not availablem for comment Tuesday. However, Stassen said Roe had told him an appearance before labor leaders might be arranged. Roe added, according to Stassen, there was little chance the AFL-CIO would alter its sup- port of Lord. Drowning reported LONGVILLE, Minn. (AP) The body of a suburban St.
