"Oh, I've got an interesting story. Duvall had been asked to take a raft down the Ganges River for an 'American Sportsman' episode on ABC. He was allowed to take one person and he invited me. When I couldn't get arrested in L.A., they introduced me to their agent and I started getting work including 'Paper Jimmy worked with Duvall and Forrest over a period of nine months in 1976 when they were performing in Francis Coppola's upcoming "Apocalypse, Now" film. Prior to that, in between stage roles, the American Academy of Dramatic Arts graduate was earning a living as an elevator operator in New York's Sherry Netherland Hotel. "I met Francis Coppola on the elevator; he was working on 'Godfather II' then," Keane recalled. "Coppola introduced me to people like Al Pacino and Diane Keaton, saying, 'Meet Jimmy; he's an actor, He even gave me a piece of cake on my birthday. So I thought he might give me a job on 'Godfather But then he went to Sicily to start shooting, and I figured that was that.

"Anyway, when I came out here, I couldn't find a job. So I did a screen test for 'Apocalypse, I lost out to Frederic Forrest, but I got another part, a small one and I was also hired to oversee the extras on location in the Philippines." The job stretched on for most of that year. Typhoons raged through the Philippine Islands, destroying an estimated 40-80 percent of the sets.
