HAYTI CITIZENS are voting today to decide whether or not the city should annex approximately 120 acres to the city limits. The acreage is located at the city's eastern limit. the annexation is approved, at least two motels, including a 100-unit Holiday Inn and a Ramada Inn, are expected to be built In the new addition'to the city. Also involved in the annexation vote is a section of land located north of Hayti, otherwise known as the C. W.

Polls opened at 6 a.m. and close at 7 p.m. The second floor of the Hayti City Hall will be the only polling place open for the election, the city clerk said, BLYTHEVILLE POLICE reported this morning that Jairel Moody, 40, was arrested and charged with leaving the scene of an accident and with driving whila under the influence of intoxicants following an automobile mishap about 9 p.m. Saturday.

According to police, a 19S5 station wagon owned by Bobby Joe Ray was parked on the shoulder near where Howard intersects with W. Rose when the auto driven by Moody struck the Ray vehicle's rear. The Moody car was found abandoned at the corner of Center and Rose. Damage to the left rear of the Ray auto was estimated at while the Moody vehicle damages were placed at the same amount. WEDNESDAY IS THE day of formal registration for college courses at Blytheville Air Force Base's Resident Study Center. VIETS State Work Force Rises Arkansas' total civilian work force numbered 768,900 at mid- May, which was 17,100 above the April figure of 751,800, J. Merle Lemley, Administrator of me Arkansas Employment Security Division, has announced.

Seasonal gains in agricultural employment amounted to 8,700 workers, while non- agriculutral employment rose 8,400. Although total unemployment at 36,100 remained unchanged, Lemley said the state's seasonally adjusted unemployment rate rose from 4.8 percent in April to 5.0 percent in May. The national unemployment rate remained unchanged at 5.9 percent over the month'. The average weekly wage for an Arkansas worker in covered employment was $111.03 during calendar year 1971. On this basis, me maximum weekly benefit payable under provisions of the Arkansas Unemployment Insurance program will increase to $67 per week effective July 1,1972, Lemley added.
