About 500 persons, most of them airmen from nearby Nellis Air Force Base and wives of missing Fill pilots, had been invited to the "premier" performance Thursday night a full dress rehearsal of Miss Welch's first night-club act. She made her formal debut in Las Vegas Friday.

The strip tease was more tease than strip. The gloves were the only thing to come off. "That gave me a chance to put myself on a bit, which I like to do," laughed the actress who rose to stardom as a Hollywood sex symbol. Her only previous stage performance was as a singer and dancer during a Bob Hope Christmas show in Vietnam. "I thought of this as my opening night," she said.

"The first audience for me is opening night. Many act's which come to Vegas have already been on the road, but this was the first time I ever did it. It was fun." "I've never done anything like this in my life. The Hope troupe was an experience, but I must say I didn't do anything close to what I do in this show." What she did was to surround herself with marionettes and puppets as she went on a musical spoof of her roles in "Fantastic Voyage," "50 Million Years B.C.," "Myra Breckinridge" and "Kansas City Bomber." With the exception of the puppets and marionettes, the show was all Raquel as she danced and sang various numbers, including "I'm a Woman."
