News-Press, April 12, 1972 7-Al Trash, to Offerei Proposal lie County Franchised garbage and trash collectors will present a package plan designed to relieve Lee County's critical sanitary landfill need when the County Commission meets today. The report will be presented to the board at 1:30 this afternoon. Commission Chairman Bruce J. Scott announced Monday he is resigning as chairman to devote more time to his candidacy for the 10th Congressional District, and the board will select a new chairman and vice chairman at the close of today's meeting. Scott will remain on the commission until his term expires, he said.

Sewer Proposal The county has been considering leasing a 700-acre track south of the Sunland Training Center for use as a sanitary landfill but a decision on this proposal was postponed until the franchise operators had an opportunity to present their plan. Scott, in announcing he would resign as chairman of the commission, said Monday he thought the new chairman should be a commissioner whose term does not expire this year. The only commissioners in that category are Kenneth Daniels and Walter Shirey. Daniels is presently vice chairman of the board and is expected to be named the commission's new chairman today.
